Both are correct. Griffon offsprings have been called satyr cousins, or Sphinx.

My own personal idea is that they are all classified as Satyr, with names to identify which kind of parent they have, such as Sphinx for Griffon parents. Though I have not come up with ones to classify between an Earth pony, Unicorn, or Pegasus yet...
