1 general relationship seriousness
2 legal status
3 average age (most people get married when they’re older, not that there’s no exceptions)
4 marriages rarely involve minors and those situations that do are ethically dubious and such
5 your bf or gf doesn’t have property and inheritance bonus stuff like a spouse would

For example for Christians (those who actually practice their beliefs and don't just call themselves that) believe that it is a sin to have sex outside of a marital relationship. So you could say among Christians, BF and GF are not supposed to have sex while a married couple can.
