"Fallout: Equestria" and several of its side fics feature many factions who hold power over certain sections and aspects of The Equestrian Wasteland. For example, "Fallout: Equestria" featured the alicorns of Unity under the leadership of The Goddess at Maripony. Of course, there were also slavers of Fillydelphia under Red Eye, and The Grand Pegasus Enclave above the cloud cover.
Many such factions can be used as a great source for enemies and main antagonists, but there can also be several benevolent or neutral factions as well. After all, in "Project Horizons" we have the mainly neutral Finders, the benevolent Crusaders, and The Reapers, who straddle the moral boundary line.
So if you have any ideas for a new faction or want to include some you created for your own side fics, feel free to post them here. After all, not everypony in The Wasteland is a free-roaming tribal. Many have allegiance to some kind of organization or settlement.

Umm... Should this not be in the other Fo:E group? This is about roleplaying, so beside groups to add to games can I not see how this is helping?

Doomande, Role-plays are, in fact, allowed to have plots.

Sure. I am not talking against that, but plot and factions are not the same thing... Most often

Yes they are. Intact the Mian RP o er on one if the sites I mod on has four major story arcs, five or six sub plots and countless multiple mini stories on go is at the same time. It's an old RP going back to November of 2010. And it's still semi active. Honestly it's about dead now/

647968

On the contrary - in Fallout, factions are nearly always integral to the the plot. After all, you've got to have a protagonist and an antagonist. Otherwise it's just a bloody sit-com.

ON-TOPIC:

Depends on where stuff is. After all, Hoofington, Canterlot, et cetera all have established realms of influence.

647945

Think of it like this: we have a character page so people will understand each other's characters without having to have things explained to them constantly. This thread is like a character sheet, except for groups characters may belong to or encounter, so that the groups don't have to be constantly explained to others.

Ahh now I follow. Derp on my behalf... How about adding monsters also? So it is an general "List of opponents" thread?

648029

That's a good idea, but I'm wondering if that should be a separate thread. Factions can be allies or enemies or just people to trade with, where the term 'monster' denotes something that is always there to be killed.

True true... DonĀ“t mind me then. I have no factions that can be shared like this

Well someone must write a whole story for rp'ing! :rainbowlaugh:

I thought the purpose of a role play was to have fun making up the story as you went along, each part contributed equally by the group.

Msvman

648857 Well we could always have a set plot (optional) :pinkiehappy:

649002

True, if that's what people would like, then I'm fine with that.

Let me tell about my faction then. I present:

The guarding shield.

An old pre-war order of griffins, formed long long time ago to help the weak there was left behind in the war happy griffin land. Think templars, only made to protect the weak. Most knights have an old power armour, to heavy made to fly in, so they can only soar or make long and high jumps. although there is no rules against ranged weapons does most train in melee weapons, often normal weapons upgraded with chainsaw blades to inflict more damage. The order have no real land or base at the moment, but are split into small groups to spread the word of honour, honesty and justice.

Alright then:

PROVIDENCE

During the Great war, the leadership in Stable-tech was confident that a balefire exchange would leave the world devastated. In order to protect the ideals of Equestria, the Stables Project began. This is common knowledge. What is not known however, is that the Stables were actually vast social-experiments in which countless ponies were deliberately killed in the name of knowledge, and the future. Flash forward to the end of the war, the three leaders of Stable-tech, Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Bell are either dead or trapped in Stables. The remainder of the Stable-tech leadership, such as company executives, scientists, and it's financiers all flee to Stable 00, the 'Master' Stable in which all social-experiments are all controlled, conducted, and monitored. They continue Stable Tech's mission of survival, and science, and eventually become the Providence, the shadowy superpower. Two Hundred years later, the Providence becomes the secret force that helps direct and advance Equestria's future. Through the vast computer telecommunication database of Stable 00, they watch the wastland with vigilance, one day hoping to take over and restore order and rebuild Equestria in their image. Though their goals may be considered righteous by some, their methods are widely considered immoral by those who know of them. In the recent years, they had gone from simply watching, to abducting ponies from the surface to perform gruesome experiments on. They are responsible for most of the 'accidents' that take place with in the unfortunate Stables. Recently, massive power surges had caused them to instigate an investigation on the Zebrican city of Roam. While the name Providence is known only by a few, the myth of the ghostly 'White Coats' (after the lab coats their scientists wear) spreads through small ramshackle settlements, and is used as a boogeymare story for young foals.

Since I have now showed an little bit of my headcanon and an evil spirit thing must it be time to explain where the hell it came from.

The Order of The White Masks.
It all started with the original order always looking for ways the members could gain power, many members was strong unicorns, old and clever zebras, skilled diamond dogs and the most clever changelings. No weapon was to dangerous for them, if black spells could be used to gain power was the price in souls and necessary cost, if swords could be used to cut others down was it insignificant if the wielder themselves also got cut. To say that it was an gathering of evil people would be an understatement of big proportions.

At some point did the order split up into smaller groups, no one knows if they did it before or after the bombs. But The Order of The White Masks specialised in forbidden zebra magic, stealing an big library of forbidden tomes with them when they split up. The are known for wearing their white porcelain masks, looking rather ordinary until you see the spells woven into them on the inside to protect the wielder of them against the spirits and other darker forces that they use. Many known necromancers, "shadow benders", "life drinkers", "soul stealer's" and other darker magic users that walk the wasteland have been or are an member of The Order of The White Masks. The only two races in their ranks are the zebras that normally specializing in summonings and brews made to extend life almost endlessly, and the unicorns normally specializing in bending raw shadows with their magic.

The leaders of the order is always both an zebra and an unicorn, one of each gender and expertise, normally forming couples to stand stronger together, and having knowledge of many fields at their hoofs, both wanting to keep the other alive, because they know if one of them dies, does the other one also die under weird circumstances an week after the death of the partner.

THE TOASTER REPAIR PONY PROJECT

The T.R.P.P was an initiative started by the dark tyrant. She wanted a legion of genetic bio clones of the fiercest and most prolific characters in wasteland history, focusing on little pip and her friends.

The organization creates unique soldiers and spies of all kinds using the genetic features of these ponies. A clone of this program is usually designed for a single purpose, a creation of this program using velvet remedy's talent for persuasion, as well as red eye's talent for persuasion, with xenith's unarmed prowess would be designed for sweet-talking its way close, then beating you to death with his bare hooves.

The project is well funded, well stocked and well trained. Genetic memories cause "bleeding effects" that train the clones during creation, a slice of the dark tyrant's dna makes them loyal, and their skills make them masters of their archetypes.

The failing of the program comes in that they can't create an all around great combatant.

"Those genes don't mesh" is a common statement among the scientists.

The T.R.P.P is one of the most well kept secrets in the dark tyrant's world order. When all else fails.

Send a toaster repair pony.

The Dark Tyrant

The dark tyrant is a figure shrouded in mystery, suspicion, and death. She rose to power in the atomic garlands. Where the Changeling Hive Lorde, Everborne created safety through his ability to control the vast amounts of deadly gargantuan insectoids that infest the irradiated sands, Tyrant gained power by learning dark magics, and turning the killing sands into her own weapon, learning the secrets to controlling it.

Her army isn't very advanced by majority, the only exception bein the T.R.P.P. her troops are a mix of any and all who value their lives. They know how to operate best in high stress, high danger scenarios, they are superb ambush experts, and they are unmatched when it comes to operating in hostile environments. Be it sand, snow, shower, or superfluous sun this army is prepared.

They are a tough, sneaky army that likes mid-long range combat, explosives, ambushes, terrain control, and either wiping out the enemy before they know what happened, or wars of attrition.

The Followers of Fluttershy

There goal is to help other's that can't help them self's, by giving them medical treatment, helping addicts, and preserving the old way's of love and tolerance, they are highly respected by most.

The New Regime((Clarifications for those who desire to know how my evil little pip hierarchy differs from Lucky's))

The new Regime is the collection of forces between enclave, steel ranger, and what's left of the unity who follow little pip, either out of admiration or fear. The industrious nature of the regime has made for several reinstated technologies in use. Griffonchasers are a common way to travel for small bands of non-flight capable ponies, as well as giant hot air balloons. Naturally she has control over what is left of the enclave's forces, including raptors, skytanks, ect. With "Little Pip's reclaimers" at her beck and call (the steel rangers who sided with steel hooves) she had access to a near infinite amount of powerful pre-war tech... Well.. Almost nigh infinite. Her science programs are pushing toward amazing advancements in cybernetics, genetics, and medicine.

The forces at her command

Enclave- The majority of the enclave joined up with pip out of a mix of fear, and respect. The wonderbolts have been replaced a team now called the Dead Shot Irregulars. They have not been disbanded, just moved down in the food chain of awesome. They are now led by Armada commander Calamity (who has become an alcoholic to deal with his problems)

Little pip's reclaimers- steel rangers who joined little pip. They are shock troops and armored scouts. They are led up by Star Brigadier Paladin Steel Hooves(who has taken to a total war policy, annihilating raiders and rebels regardless of the cost of civilian lives)

T.R.P.P- A modified version of the original project of making specialized assassin's out of the dna of other ponies. mainly focused on creating T.R.Ps with a direct telepathic connection to little pip, reminiscent of the way the goddess communed with her alicorns. This program is led up by Life Bloom who after the death of his closest friend, resigned himself to fathering these genetic monsters, hoping they will be able to end this 'war' quickly.

Broken Unity- The remainder of red eye's forces now follow little pip. Red eye still has his place but he is unable to lead them directly, he handed them over to pip. Red Eye was forced into the S.P.P mainframe after installing loyalty cybernetics inside him. He is more of a sentient A.I that obeys Pips every command than a pony now.

The Forsaken- The remainder of the alicorns who have flocked to pip's side. Promises of natural reproduction, and a deep rooted awe of the one who killed a being they were certain was unkillable drives these alicorns.

The Ministry of Peace- Contrary to popular belief, the ministry of peace only runs hospitals at face value. It's a front for the sinister torture and interrogations that go on behind the scenes. Led by the sociopathic, psychopathic, elegant, promiscuous Velvet Remedy the background operations include espionage, sabotage, torture, interrogation, and lessons in medicine and entertainment... Also Lobotomies.

The Black arts bureau- Created and led by pip herself, this specialized group of individuals exists to explore necromancy, shadowmancy, blood magic, and other dark arts provided by the black book. Candidates will one day fight each other to the death to join a special group of six ponies (excluding pip herself) who will use the powers of the black book to ensure that the gardens of the equestria work as they intend. The only members of this shadow committee are Cazador Umbris, a former cult leader and gifted shadowmancer, and Black Jack, a very unstable mare from a stable annexed by pip. Black Jack is also Pip's paramour.

Xenith- Named after it's lead assassin, Xenith is a program that takes young zebras and turns them into well trained assassins. Xenith herself leads this program to ensure that each child is as effective a killer as she is. Those who prove failures to the program are executed. The only one to ever fail was Xenith's own daughter. Xenith, having lost any sense of freewill while together with pip, she mercilessly liquidated her own child as an example to the rest. Xenith was once Pip's lover. Now she shares the position of personal body guard along with Black Jack.

Talon Company- The famous griffon mercs are the go-to-birds for work that needs to be done, when forces are spread thin. Pip has Gawd under contract, and Gawd has Pip under contract. Generally a faction may hire freelance mercs, but with this contract it provides Gawd with the right to test the merc in any way she sees fit, leaving most competition dead. Likewise, she is not above sending a band of mercs to complete the contract before the rival can get there to prove that hiring outside talon is a poor idea.
----------
The opposition to the new regime is as follows.

The Line- Led by Monterrey Jack, The Line is a well established resistance movement but suffers from constant attack which leaves them on a perpetual defensive battle plan. They aren't skilled enough to do any actual meaningful casualties in fights with Pip's forces but they are very good at drawing a fight on for extended periods of time. They have mundane fire arms and armor for ponies who join. They are aware Pips greatest weapon, celestia one, is located somewhere in tenpony tower and their number one priority is getting that weapon under their control. They are always looking for mercs to bolster their forces, these mercs are usually held on retainer and are paid a salary unless they are hired for a specific job. In which case they are paid upon completion of the job.

Stablefree- Nopony knows who started stable free, or how they managed to use the stable-tec transmission network to communicate with its secret members. Still, this is the only resistance movement that has made successful attacks on Pip and her forces. it is still unclear who Stablefree's leader is, but they do seem to know what they're doing. These secret soldiers have nothing beyond what they carry on their backs as weapons. They have no forms of communication and it is very likely no two members will ever meet each other. This is theorized as how Stablefree has been so successful. They have no need for mercs. It is possible mercs work for them, but they are not hired in any way. If a merc does a job for Stablefree, it is because that merc wants to.

The watchers- Taking up the mantle of watcher, a group of skilled hackers an machinists took over a spritebot control mainframe and are able to take momentary control over the bots. They use them in a similar way the original, now silent, watcher once did. They look for those brave few who have that special spark inside them. A galvanizing spark that could bring the end to the tyranny and death now prevalent in the wasteland. These ponies are extremely skilled hackers and machinists, obviously no good in a real fight, but they have information, and a talent with electronics. Seeing as all members of the watchers are anonymous, they have no need for mercs.

Here's who Mercy works for.

Cobra's Raiders

Previously called the 'Bloodshots' as per reference to their old leader, Cobra's Raiders are the remnants of the old gang from out in Hoofington, where the old boss' daughter offed him in the arena. she then took the gang, changed the name, and dragged their lazy asses to a location near Ponyville, where she trained the raiders and continues to terrorize the wasteland. the gang is a general nuisance, but hasn't made any assaults on settlements, but nearby wastelanders are still worried.

the gang is situated in a compound surrounding an old Ironshod Firearms building, where the leader and her chosen reside. surrounding it are various tents and metal structures that house the raiders, a large patch of land that is used for training, and a concrete wall that is patrolled regularly.

notable characters:
Cobra: leader
'Psycho': second in command, trains raiders
Mercy: medic
Blitz: guard captian

The Order of The "Pure" Ones

A religious order founded by the Alicorn, Flame Flare. The Pure ones have been dedicated to the belief of a coming apocalypse that shall purge the world of it's "filth" and bring forth a new age in Equesrtia. They belive that balefire is in fact a holy substance and is only deadly to those "unworthy" to come into contact with it.

The Pure Ones are a Hierarchy ranking from those who are considered the most "pure" to those who are the most "impure". Such purity is determined by breed. For example, Alicorns are considered to be the most pure, following Pegasi and Unicorns at equal purity, following Earth Ponies, and at the bottom of the ladder are Zebras and Griffins who considered to be the most impure beyond salvation. Ghoul Ponies, however, have their own special class, existing outside the Hierarchy. Due to the fact that they have came into contact with balefire and survived, ghoul ponies aren't just considered to be the most pure, but also the most blessed and are thus giving more privileges than any of the ranks. However, Ghoul Griffins and Zebras are still considered as "Unclean".

Thus ranking:
Supreme Alicorn: "Fr." Flame Flare
Minor Alicorn: High priest
Pegasi and Unicorn: Priest
Earth Ponies: Laymen and missionaries
Griffins and Zebras: Slaves and Servants

Ghouls: "Saints"

The Order's true goal is unknown. Headquartered at St. James Cathedral in the ruins of Seaddel, the Pure Ones have spread throughout the wasteland, with numbers growing into thousands in just ten years. Two things are known for certain, they are planning to do something with balefire and that they have been building and preparing for something for a long time.

Ladies and Gentlemen; please tell me what you think of these.

The New Principality of Equestria

An ambitious movement sparked by a young Mare inspired in part by the works of great Authors, such as Thomas Hooves, and the history of Equestria itself; the Principality seeks to pick up the pieces of the old Celestian Regime; whilst maintaining a balance between progress and making changes to the social/political structure as necessary to fit in better with the modern world. The recently-crowned Princess Solar Eclipse leads the fledgeling nation; an Enlightened Despot willing to grant and secure the liberties of the common-folk, though not at the expense of her authority, or at least the aspects which give an Monarchist Regime its driving force, strong base, and advantage over the limitations as proposed by "Republicanism"; an ideal born from the structure of the Pre-War Constitutional Monarchy as established by Princess Luna.

Alongside her is the First-Mare High Minister of the Cabinet, and commander of the Principality's Elite force; the Cavaliers, Princess Solar Eclipse and Crossfire (Two young and ambitious Ponies, the former a Unicorn while the latter is a Pegasi, being united in their goals to help the wastes, and with different outlooks on the means which can bring about such ends) lead their expanding dominion into the Heartland, originally hailing from the Cities of Hoofstein, Briddleburg, Marelin, and Ponyrania in Eastern Equestria. A true amalgamation of Militarism, Expansionism, Culture, and Education; the New Principality is fueled by the Old World knowledge it can salvage from ruined libraries; using old Military Doctrines, methods of Industry and Agriculture and plans for infrastructure to drive its citizens into an age of peace and prosperity.

Not all is perfect, however, and not all like the idea of living under an Autocracy; even under the steady hoof of an Enlightened Despot such as Solar Eclipse. The nation has a reputation for aggressive Militarism; expanding, absorbing smaller tribes and nations as protectorates and new territories, and taking through force what they deem as necessary for furthering their ultimate goals. In this regard, without looking deeper at the vibrant, thriving, cultured society that lies beneath; most view them as another authoritarian regime attempting to exercise control over the Wastes when nothing could be further from the truth. Discrimination also serves as a deterrent, as though the Princess herself tries to maintain a policy of tolerance and politeness towards other races; there are many who have been swayed to feel animosity towards the Zebra's, Hellhounds and Gryphons for historical grievances; each met with varying degrees for the severity of their crimes; the Zebra's for destroying the world, the Gryphons for refusing to aid Equestria during the war, and the Hellhounds for troubles dating back since before their evolution into the beasts they are now. Ghoul-Ponies and Alicorns are met with only slightly more tolerance than Gryphons, and only because they themselves were once ponies, even if they are the spawn of the war and the arrogance of the pre-war Government, respectively.

Still; the New Principality's population number just over 750,000 ponies and growing, surely and steadily. Despite all the good they have done and continue to do; most other factions look down on them for their militant expansionism and absorption of smaller Tribes and nations looking to grow and develop their own cultures and customs. The Civil Disorder generated by this foreign occupation does not tend to last long, thanks to the ever-vigilant Inquisition and progressive policies of Her Majesty, Princess Solar Eclipse; yet some factions such as the NCR view them as a potential threat to the sovereignty of their own nations; thus isolating the growing nation politically.

New Pegasopolis

The new Pegasus Power in the skies above the heartland; the City was established by Pegasus Soldiers and Citizens who broke away from the Enclave after Littlepip's instrumental role in destroying the state. Some elements of the old GPE survive in the newly-founded City-State; they retain their independence from Equestria, regarding themselves as their own separate entity; though their policies on Immigration and Emigration have since become much more lenient. Only recently stabilizing; they patrol the grounds beneath their city and in close proximity around it; keeping the regions and its settlements safe from mutants and malicious factions, controlling the weather to aid the Agricultural Villages under their protection, and generally working to repair the damage done to their reputation by their parent-faction, their Enclave heritage making others weary of their presence and ultimate goals in the region.

Unlike the Enclave before, run by a Council, New Pegasopolis is technically considered a Military Dictatorship; Komandant Thales Snowstorm presiding as head of state with unquestioned, absolute authority. His Regime is shrouded in mystery for any who have not lived under New Pegasopolis' banner, though for those who have experienced him firsthand; they know his Regime is a strict authoritarian Regime placing emphasis on promotion based on Merit, honour to those who serve in the Armed Forces or otherwise work for them, and unlike the Enclave before; Thales takes genuine interest in the land below. For what reason, exactly? It cannot be determined; the ambitious General-King has kept his secrets since overthrowing the Enclave Remnants ruler over the city, leaving it open to speculation, most of which does not look kindly on or do justice for this very different breed of Benevolent Despot.

New Pegasopolis is still very militant, highly advanced technologically, and with a significant population of around 300,000 to boot, and growing slightly due in part to their actions helping wasteland settlements within their sphere of influence. Envoys have been sent to some present Wasteland factions; an embassy established with the NCR and NPE respectively; with contact being made with other significant tribes and nations of interest. Diplomatic relations are sketchy at best, however, and at worst such envoys and their escorts are shot at on sight. To further dis-associate themselves from the Enclave, however; they have taken to painting their Armor white and sky-blue, with the New Pegasopolis Emblem emblazoned on the shoulders.
