Headcanon time! So, in one of the "Friends Forever" issues (my apologies, I forget which one), Mayor Mare remarks that Applejack would make great Mayor of Ponyville once she retires. I gave it some thought, and eventually decided that that would actually make a lot of sense!
Applejack makes a great leader due to her responsibility and level-headed attitude, but she also cares a lot about the close-knit community of Ponyville. Then again, she is really dedicated to her family's farm....

What do you guys think?

I don't think she would take the office, even if it offered to her: while farm work may have seasonal ups and downs, and she's often able of taking time off in short notice, it is still far too absorbing to take on another full time job.
