As you'll know... beginning on Sunday June 30th, 2024... Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 Big Boy No. 4014 will be embarking on the Westward Bound Tour, the first of two tours that 4014 will be doing this year on the UP System. :)

Sunday June 30th: Cheyenne, Wyoming to Rawlins, Wyoming with a stop in Laramie, Wyoming.

Monday July 1st: Rawlins, Wyoming to Rock Springs, Wyoming with a stop in Wamsutter.

Tuesday July 2nd: Day of rest.

Wednesday July 3rd: Rock Springs, Wyoming to Evanston, Wyoming with a stop in Green River.

Thursday July 4th: Evanston, Wyoming to Salt Lake City, Utah with a stop in Morgan, Utah.

Friday July 5th: Day of rest.

Saturday July 6th: Salt Lake City, Utah to Elko, Nevada with a stop in Wells, Nevada.

Sunday July 7th: Day of rest.

Monday July 8th: Elko, Nevada to Winnemucca, Nevada with stops in Carlin and Battle Mountain.

Tuesday July 9th: Winnemucca, Nevada to Portola, California with a stop in Gerlach, Nevada.

Wednesday July 10th: Day of rest.

Thursday July 11th: Portola, California to Roseville, California with a stop in Oroville, California.

And yes... the highlight will be 4014 going through one of the famed highlights on the former Western Pacific route: The Feather River Canyon! :D

Friday July 12th and Saturday July 13th: On display in Roseville, California.

Sunday July 14th: Roseville, California to Sparks, Nevada with stops in Colfax and Truckee.

Of note is the following two things on that day:

1. 4014 will be going over famed and legendary Donner Pass. :3

2. 4014 will be hauling a public excursion special for the Union Pacific Museum. :)

Monday July 15th: Day of rest.

Tuesday July 16th: Sparks, Nevada to Winnemucca, Nevada with a stop in Lovelock, Nevada.

Wednesday July 17th: Winnemucca, Nevada to Elko, Nevada with a stop in Carlin.

Thursday July 18th (aka my 28th Birthday. =3): Day of rest.

Friday July 19th: Elko, Nevada to Ogden, Utah with a stop in Montello, Nevada.

The highlight on that day will see the Big Boy go across the Lucian Cutoff as shown here:

Saturday July 20th and Sunday July 21st: On display in Ogden, Utah.

Monday July 22nd: Ogden, Utah to Montpelier, Idaho with stops in Brigham City, Utah and Soda Springs, Idaho.

Tuesday July 23rd: Montpelier, Idaho to Rock Springs, Wyoming with a stop in Kemmerer, Wyoming.

Wednesday July 24th: Day of rest.

Thursday July 25th: Rock Springs, Wyoming to Rawlins, Wyoming with a stop in Point of Rocks.

Friday July 26th (aka the final day of the trip.): Rawlins, Wyoming to Cheyenne, Wyoming with a stop in Medicine Bow, Wyoming.

So.... which segment are y'all looking forward to the most for the Westward Bound Tour for 4014 this summer? For me personally... I'm looking forward to watching 4014 going over both the Feather River Canyon and Donner Pass in Northern California. =3
