According to an article in The Drive, the last steam main line in the world, serving the Sandaoling Coal Mine in China, retired the last of its steam locomotives on April 25, with the tracks in the area being in the process of being torn up since May 7 due to the shutting down of the local coal mines. The last of the locomotives, believed to be of China Railways' 4-8-4 JS class, are reportedly being relegated to shunting duties in adjacent rail yards.

A truly great shame. I long for the days of steam locos ruling the rails to return

That's a darn shame.
