Feathered Hearts - Continuation and Chronicles is now M-rated · 9:05pm Oct 13th, 2022
Hey, folks. After running my new chapter past prereaders and discussing it with them, the conclusion was unanimous—they loved all of it including the powerful combat scenes and especially some very hot adult action at the end, but the ending scene exceeded an R-rating. That left me with a dilemma, as I felt it needed to be there and didn’t wish to dial it back or remove it.
Nor was there enough to make a full chapter of Eros out of, and it honestly felt like the scene—the full, uncensored scene—belonged right where it was in the main story. Not just for marking an important milestone in the life of one of our heroes, but showing how fighting for your life can lead very quickly and unexpectedly lead to celebration of survival, particularly when those involved saved each other’s life along the way. If you don’t believe me, you can ask some military veterans about that.
After sleeping on it overnight and getting additional feedback today, I have made the decision to change the rating of Continuation and Chronicles from T-rated to M-rated for the simple reason that more of these scenes are coming, and I do not want to have to hold back on them. Nor can I rate the story chapter by chapter, as the only rating system available to the site applies to the entire story. To leave it T-rated claiming it’s just one of two chapters with X-rated adult content would invite the wrath of the mods, so that’s that.
M-rated scenes won’t be in every chapter, and even when they occur, they won’t be the wall-to-wall clop like you see in Midnight Rising or Eros. And before anyone asks, Eros is going nowhere—as a dedicated clopfic, it will be used (as it has been already) for large scenes spanning one or more chapters that would break the flow of the main story narrative to be included in C&C. But smaller scenes such as this one will appear in C&C when I feel they’re appropriate to the story—i.e., at a natural point in the narration where sex is a normal or even inevitable consequence of previous events. Such is it here.
Having made the decision to go M-rated, I’ve thrown off all narrative restraints and amped up the trailing scene heavily, meaning that you’re going to get a very enormous and juicy 16,000 word chapter launched early tomorrow evening with a quick buildup to intense combat followed by some very steamy sex. For those who don’t want to read it, the trailing section containing the latter will be clearly marked for skipping.
I’m very sorry if this upsets anyone, and I’m sorrier still if it results in readers leaving the story. But it’s my opinion that for the sake of the story and my writing it properly, this needs to be done. You will still be getting content advisories up front, and where M-rated material exists, it will be marked in the narrative. But C&C will incorporate occasional M-rated material from here on out, and I’ll likely be adding some in at earlier points in the story. I’ll let you know what and where they are when I do so, and save the old versions of the chapters for anyone who prefers them.
I’m launching the chapter at around 6 or 7 PM US Eastern Time tomorrow night. Be looking for it, and buckle your helmets on tight, folks. You’re in for a hell of a ride!
Fantastic chapter. Our little prereading crew had a blast leaving comments on this one, especially that nice ending scene!
Sight unseen, this is the right call

Indeed you did! I was really enjoying following the comments on it. That’s how I know I’ve got something good. Here’s hoping readers think the ending scene was as nice as you and the rest of the team!

Appreciate it. I think so, too.
I can't wait to read the new chapter. Just because there will be some Rated R scenes in this story, doesn't mean I'll ever stop reading C&C. Hope to see even more chapters soon.

In this case, we’re talking full-blown M-rated, but thanks for saying so! As said in the blog post, the next chapter will be released tomorrow night. And at 16,000 words, that should provide plenty of (hopefully) good reading.
Sun save Celestia!
And Moon keep Luna.
Not so fun time incoming with Cloven.
Fun time incoming with a Griffoness/Eagless.
This is where the fun continues
I STILL believe that
A) The fic should have remained teen
and
B) This change has been overdue for quite some time.
So now I have 1 less thing to whine about.

The funny thing is, I don’t find those contradictory at all. I understand where you’re coming from perfectly.
Oh, I’m pretty sure the new chapter will give you something else, for better and for worse. We’ll have to see what the reader consensus on it is.

it'll have to wait, I can't read M rated stuff at work... which is partly why I dislike the change, half my reading is at work these days.
5692516
That’s fair. Especially since half my writing is at work these days. Just don’t tell my employer.

If you don’t mind me asking, why can’t you read M-rated material at work? Blocked by firewall? Or just not wanting to chance someone reading over your shoulder?

We aren't allowed on the network at all, but it's ignored as long as we don't trip alerts for content (Adult content) or bandwidth (downloads)
I know it is probably stupid question, but english is not my born language
so rating is T -> R -> M or what does they stand for.
I personally have no issues with mature content, being it both violence or sex, but as there are same chapters with different marks I would like to know which ones are the "complete" ones
5702784
T = Teen (suggestive content possible but no nudity or sex)
R = Restricted (some nudity and implied sex possible)
M = Mature (explicit sex)
Basically, the M-rated chapters are canon and can be considered the “complete” ones. They contains fully explicit sex scenes. The T-rated versions of the same chapters are intended to be more sanitized versions of them that may imply sex but either do not describe it or simply have it happen off-camera, so to speak.
When R-rated or M-rated content is ahead, you’ll see different links at the end of the previous chapter pointing to the different versions, with one being T-rated and the other being R or M-rated. If you want the complete and canon story, follow the R-rated/M-rated ones. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you
I appreciate clarification
