I read about that. Last I found out, especially after adding the information to the show’s Wikipedia page, Tartakovsky was wanting to shift the series focus to a new set of characters.
As I thought about it more, I would love for the series to feature stories featuring themes about love and family. The theme of the last two seasons was about friendship, so I think it’d be wonderful if a story for one set of characters was about family while another revolved around love.

The other themes of the last two seasons was also man vs. nature in season 1 and man vs. man in season 2. Perhaps the third season will focus on man vs. universe/supernatural/fate/higher beings, while family and love serve as the secondary themes in each half.
