    The Return of Super Stallion

Hard to believe it's been over a year and a half since I put Super Stallion on hiatus to work on other stories here. While they're a few left to complete and a few other stories I haven't started yet, after some R&R I'm finally getting back to work on Super Stallion. I'm not only going to finish it but I'm going to be re-editing the whole story. Some chapters will only be changed a bit while

Top 10 Favorite Movies · 5:23am Aug 18th, 2022

I just love movies, so let's not waste anytime and get to talking about them these are my absolute favorite movies. Give or take I love movies in a general sense.

10 Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs

Just a heads up I'm a Disney fanatic, but aside from that is truly an amazing movie. Why? First off the animation, I mean my gosh, this was made over 80 years ago and it still looks like it could be drawn today. There's also the characters. Snow White isn't exactly a rich deep complex character, but the thing is, you don't really care. She's just so kind and pleasant and sweet and nice, you just want to be her best friend. Speaking of the characters the queen is a great villain and fun fact about the dwarfs, they didn't have names in the original fairy tale, they were named by Walt Disney. The dwarfs are also fun characters, Dopey has absolutely no dialouge but he still has so much personality. Another fun fact, the animators had trouble drawing the prince so that's why he's hardly in the movie. The story is also very good, the genius is in the simplicity while also working in rather deep themes. Such as hope, not giving into fear, and the power of love. Once last thing some people complain about characters like Snow White get married to men they barely know, but that's because of the time period. People got married sooner because they didn't live as long as we do now. But no matter when this movie takes place and no matter when you watch it, it will always be a timeless masterpiece.

9 Casablanca

From one timeless masterpiece to another. So chances are you've never even seen this movie, but you just might have heard someone mimic an iconic line from it.
We'll always have Paris.
Of all the gin joints in all the world she had to walk into mine.
Something tells me this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
The story takes place during WW2 and many refugees stay in Casablanca, where they try to get to America. Some however choose to stay there such as Rick, played by Humphrey the greatest actor to ever live Bogart. It's not just his acting. His tone his body language, he does it all perfectly. Rick runs a small yet popular cafe and one day his old love Ilsa finally returns along her husband. Yeah there's quite the story behind that, along with how the husband Victor Lazlo is on the run from the Nazis. The movie is also quite suspenseful, right at the beginning a man is shot and killed, there's a constant tone that something like that could happen at any point in the movie. However that part of what makes the movie so good, a balance of danger, romance, and adventure. The large however is the characters, even the ones with little to know screentime or dialouge find someway to leave an impression. So if you haven't seen it yet check it out, I can almost promise it will leave a strong impression on you. The world will always welcome a classic, as times goes by.

8 The Princess and the Frog

It felt so good to see a handdrawn animated Disney movie in theaters again. Don't get me wrong CGI has come a long way, but handdrawn just has that personal touch you just can't capture with a computer. The story is about a woman named Tiana that wants to own her own restaurant becomes a frog along with a spoiled prince named Naveen of Maldonia because of the shadow man. While they try to become human again the shadow man tries to get control of the town, because bad guys love power. The characters are great the songs are fun and the little touches are just great. For example Mama Odie tells Tiana and Naveen that to be human again Tiana's friend Charlotte has to kiss Naveen. Her dad is king of Mardi Gras, which technically makes her a princess, but only until midnight. When Mardi Gras is over. Sort of a nice mix on classic fairy tale troups here and there. Such as just how the curse is broken but I won't dare spoil it for you. I love this movie so much I've made it a new tradition to watch it every Valentine's Day.

7 Peter Pan

So when I was thinking up the movies to put on this list, this was the only one to slip my mind. That aside this is a truly loveable and entertaining movie. The timeless tale of the boy that never grew up inviting the darling children to Neverland. This was Walt Disney's 2nd favorite story behind Snow White. He waited a while to make this into a movie because it was a bit more complexe than Snow White. Much like Snow White the story works in one or two heavy or dark themes and the characters are wonderful, Peter is a rather full of himself but he's still all around likeable in this version. Wonderfully selfish as others would put it. Captain Hook is a great villain period and you gotta love that crocodile. Tinker Bell kind of gets a hard time for trying to kill Wendy, but looking at it again she gets her redemption. She not only saves Peter's life, but when her light is on the verge of going out she tells Peter the others are in danger. That's actually really noble. What I take from this movie is that growing older doesn't have to mean growing up. No matter how old you get, you can always journey to Neverland in one way or another. Because like this movie it will live in your heart forever, even if it's not always living in your head.

6 Forrest Gump

This is another movie where the genius is in the simplicity, while it does have many complex and at times dark themes, it's pretty just a guy sitting on a bench talking about his life and the people he touched. Most of the movie is just the life of this one guy, but trust me when I say it's much more interesting than it may sound. Forrest Gump is said to be stupid by several people in the movie, but he's not stupid, he's just slow. Smart in his own way, he also has his own way of looking at things. I don't there much I can say about this movie at least not as much as the other movies, but if this movie has a major lesson I'd say it's about staying focused on your goal. Forrest stuck with something no matter what, whether it was football, the army, pingpong, or just running for a while. His love interest on the hand made compromise and then another compromise and before she knew it he life fell apart. However she eventually got her life together and called Forrest over with a big surprise waiting for him. Also I made a movie that is one giant homage to this movie, check it out if you want. https://www.fimfiction.net/story/378310/happy-birthday-tom-hanks

5 Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Another fun fact, this and Forrest Gump were based on a book and both movies are much better than the books. Detective Eddie Valiant gets in the middle of a massive conspiracy centered a murder caused by a toon. Or was it? The blend of animation and live action is just perfect and the movie is filled with little details. For a better idea of what I'm talking about check this video below out.

The movie is also a great homage to classic film noire not to mention the golden age of Hollywood. Plus, it's just awesome to see so many cartoon character running around in one movie. By the way the toons are an allegory for black people in this movie. Adventure, romance, mystery, comedy, deep themes, and cameos out the yinyang. What's not to like?

4 The Crow

Can't rain all the time.
Based on the comic on the same name (for the record I think the movie is better) Eric Draven's and his Fiancee Shelly are murdered the night before Halloween. One year later Eric returns from death with a set of powers to seek his righteous vengence against a group of thugs, a pawn shop owner, and a mob boss whose named I had trouble rembering. Not because the character is forgettable, but because I don't think they say his name once in the movie. The movie comes across as sort of a dark action movie, but stands out with it's themes of love and honestly a good sense of humor.
Cop:Are you gonna disappear on me again?
Eric: I'd thought I'd just use your front door.
Much like Casablanca every character is memorable. This was also the last movie Brandon Lee starred in, he died on set. They didn't have a gun exspert to save money but there was a mishap with one of the guns and, well you can put 2 and 2 together. Ironic, they tried to save money, but someone paid the ultimate price. Sort of connects the actor to the character in a way if you think about it. Both are fun, but they'll always be with us. If the people we have are stolen from us, the way to have them live on, is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever.

3 Robin Hood

Some of you might remember this from my Top 20 underrated movies. It's also one of my favorite movies of all time. Disney's adaptation of the classic adventures of Robin Hood as he robs the rich to feed the poor, though it's less about stealing and more about fighting corrupt authority. Action, adventure, romance, fun, funny, great characters, good animation. How is this not more loved? Speaking of love the chemisty of Robin Hood and Maid Marian is wonderful. They aren't together much but you can tell how much they love each other just from how they talk about each other, and when they are together, it just melts your heart. My favorite scene in the whole movie is when they're walking around the forest at night. There this one part where they don't say anything, they don't do anything, they just quietly look into each other's eyes and you can jsut feel their affection for one another. The characters are fun too, they aren't are that memorable, but they get a funny line and a stand out moment here and there Little John is likeable and Prince John is one of the greatest if not the greatest comedic foil, he's a spolied cub in a grown lion's body. Speaking of which this movie has all anthropomorphic creatures because Disney wanted to make this movie stand out from all the other versions of Robin Hood. And this movie has always stood out to me, granted it was for all the other reasons but still. What else can I say except Oo-De-Lally Oo-De-Lally golly what a day, Oo-De-Lally Oo-De-Lally golly what a day.

2 The Super Movies

Yeah, I kind of decided to put these all together in 1 slot. They're all great. All 3 movies are based on the popular and highly beloved Dragon Ball franchise. The 1st is about Goku meeting Beerus the God of Destruction and having to meet an all new level of power just to hope to stand a chance, The 2nd is about the greatest villain in the franchise retunring for, what else revenge, and the 3rd is Goku and his rival Vegeta fighting a member of their race named Broly. The first 2 are adaptations of the first 2 arcs in the Super Manga while the 3rd is barely mentioned at all. Most likely because the manga creator Akira Toriyama, was given full creative freedom for that movie so he figured why bother putting it in the manga. Broly was actually introduced in a DBZ movie but Akira loved the idea so much he decided to make him canon as well as flesh out his character beyond a screaming lunatic. All 3 movies exspand the lore of the franchise with great new characters while not forgetting to focus on the main characters. Freeza is just as great a bad guy as ever and has found a way to become an even greater threat. Beerus is a truly standout character and it's interesting that he's not really a bad guy, more like a force of nature. Destruction always come before creation. Goku's character like I said still has focus and he's as great as ever. The action of course is great but the movies take that to another level too, the 3rd one especially. I was actually afraid to blink during the climax because I thought I'd miss something. It was that good. I haven't seen the latest movie yet but it's probably a fair chance it's going to be on this list and this slot.

1 The Lion King

At the start I said I love movies in a genral sense, that's not the case here. While I didn't always know it, this has always been my favorite movie. If I could describe this movie in one word that be, perfect. I don't have a single problem with this movie I love everything about it, great animation, catchy music, deep themes, a timeless story with timeless morals, and absolutely unforgettable characters. I could watch this movie 1000 times (and probably have) and could never get tired of it. What else can I ever say about this movie? It's just a masterpiece, and one day I hope I can make a movie on par with it.
