    The End (For Now)

    Hey.

It's been a while since I've done one of these. There's quite a bit to talk about. So, let's get to it, shall we?

Now, to those who have been following me for a while, you might be looking at my latest entry and say, '...really? That's how it all ends? After everything Beatri and pals have been through!? No, that can't possibly be how it ends!'

    Back with an update!

Hi! Sorry for the radio silence. Basically took some time off to figure out some real-life stuff and rearrange my living space. BUT I'm back and ready to conclude Undeath and Rebirth in just two more chapters before focusing my efforts on some projects left in the fridge. Speaking of which, after a long thought process and realization that I no longer have full time or energy to commit to certain

Character Profiles: Dion · 10:48pm Aug 15th, 2022

Sir Dion the Dauntless

Age 28
Race Sheep
Identity Male
Voice Karl Urban

A proud warrior ram from the Isles of Pàrras. Son of Lord Haden and older brother to Oona. Unlike the more peaceful residents there, Dion chose violence at birth. Always getting into scraps, never backing down from any challenge or dare. This often got him into trouble with the isle leaders, most notably his father, who tried to instill patience and discipline through the craft of blacksmith. Fortunately, the growing ram took those lessons to heart and became a defining fighter of the aisles.

After failing to win the annual hiehlain game, Dion ventured out to offer his services elsewhere when it became apparent he had nothing more to learn. He took up brawling in the pits for money and even a few bodyguard jobs for royal patrons. But where he excelled at was on the battlefield, giving his life to fighting alongside his brother in arms. It was during those times of constant fighting where he began to live by his personal warrior creed; stand against the odds and protect those who can't.

Dion makes his proper debut in Dearly Beloved, reuniting with his sister and meeting Beatrix Belladonna, Cerise Shilouette, and his eventual student, Midnight Blitzer. He joins the travelers in Everywhere and Nowhere in search of the wayward witch's daughter, Abadonna. Along the way, he develops a relationship with the crystal maids of the manor, Wet Nurse and Foal-Bearer, with the promise to bring them into a more unfettered lifestyle.

But there is one promise Dion sought after. To return home when he is ready and earn his father's mantle of chieftain. Only then will the burly ram believe he has become a true warrior and defender of the land.

Dion's Onoma is named Ares, the legendary Greek God of War. An arcane aura ignites his trusty broad sword and targe while also manifesting a helm over this head, granting him invulnerability to magic spells and projectiles.

Tropes

  • After-Action Patch-Up: Often receives this after enduring long enough battles by either his sister or (more prominently) the crystal twins.
  • Amazon Chaser: Dion is often drawn toward women who can match or even surpass his battle prowess. The most notable example is the Huntress, Ebony Black, where the two greatly appreciate each other during their romp in the Bewitching Hour. One might consider this being the reason he wants Wet Nurse and Foal-Bearer to become more capable fighters.
  • Anti-Magic: His Onoma, Ares, grants his weapons a specialized aura to combat magic users and any projectile-based attack. Best shown in the first chapter of Everywhere and Nowhere, where he deflects an eye beam from a gigantic cyclops.
  • AsskickingEqualsAuthority: A firm believer of this trope. Every year, the Isles of Parras host a competition called the hiehlain games to crown their strongest warrior as chieftain. And Dion's goal to claim the mantle the moment he feels ready to return.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Dion's preferred method of fighting. Fella goes in, wrecks some shit, and challenges for more when there are not enough opponents. A major drawback to this is that while he's good at getting into fights, he has little means of getting out of fights.
  • Badass Cape: A large cotten weaved cowl to add to his imposing bulk.
  • Battle Aura: Bright crimson energy flows over his sword, shield, and head whenever he's called upon his Onoma.
  • Battle Couple: With the newly made succubi maids during the climactic battle with the Burning King.
  • Begin with a Finisher: Dion normally enjoys a good 'barnie' and takes ample time duking it out with potential worthy combatants. But if things are deathly serious or if he's deeply annoyed, he'll waste no time ending a brewing fight with his pantonate headbutt. Case and point, Dion rendered Natural Selection unconscious the second the lecher threatened Wet-Nurse and Foal Bearer.
  • Berserk Button: Does not like people who willingly give up without trying. Dion takes it as a personal insult to the many people he's fought beside.
  • BFS: His claymore.
  • Big Brother Instinct: You would be wise not to threaten the livelihood of his sister, Oona. This goes way back as children, as Dion often came to her defense against bullies who were harassing her.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Tends to make a dynamic entry right when Beatrix has her back against the wall. Everywhere and Nowhere has him doing this twice!
  • Blood Brothers: With Tirek from the Lost World. It implied they fought together in serving King Ambros during the tail-end of the caribou war.
  • Blood Knight: Dion loves to fight, whether it be for defending the weak, for personal gain, or just for fun.
  • Boisterous Bruiser: A downplayed example. When Dion isn't a fierce, battle-ready warrior, he's a pretty chill guy to hang around with. In his off time, he's prone to retelling old tales, knocking cups with chums, and looking for potential lays. He enjoys light banter with his friends and may even challenge them to a friendly arm wrestling match.
  • Brave Scot: A warrior who hails from an island based around Celtic mythology and culture and is most certainly brave.
  • Carpet of Virility: His barreled chest is covered with black wooly fuzz.
  • Catchphrase: "Aufurfuxake!" (Aw, for fuck's sake!) for when things go wrong.
  • Challenging the Chief: Dion plans to participate in the annual hiehlain games so he can claim his father's mantle as chieftain. The Bewitching Hour shows him doing this before unsuccessfully.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: Dion makes no attempts to hide his intentions to bed the women he fancies. Of course, he'll respect their wishes if they refuse as he values their wellbeing more than his own personal needs. Though nine times out ten, they'll also be infatuated with the burly ram. Just ask Beatrix, Wet Nurse, Foal-Bearer, Bellatrix, Ebony, and Wispy Willows!
  • Close-ranged Combadant: As mentioned before, Dion relies solely on his physical prowess to win fights, which gives him a disadvantage against mages or long-distance foes. And while his Onoma offers protection, he would still need to find a way to close the gap.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Wastes little time in knocking Natural Selection off his sorry arse in Undeath & Rebirth.
  • Defeat Means Respect: Midnight manages to withstand Dion's cranium and continues to spar, much to the latter's surprise and appreciation.
  • Determinator: Does not believe in the very notion of 'defeat.' Dion's warrior creed is about standing back up, even when your body can no longer take it. Someone has to stand for the people who do not process strength. No matter the odds. It is a lesson he carries to every battle and teaches to his good friend Midnight during the sparring lessons.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: In a series full of powerful spell casters, monsters, and demi-gods, Dion is simply a stubborn ram armed with enchanted weapons who refuses to give into surrender.
  • Emposed to the Elements: Dion doesn't seem that bothered by intense weather changes despite only wearing a pauldron and cape, save for when he and his friends encounter a terrible storm of Wendigos.
  • Every Scar Has a Story: The scar across his left eye was because of his shortcomings in blacksmithing. His arms, neck, and waist are littered with smaller scratches, likely from his days as a free-lance warrior. Dion has yet to tell the story about the large scar across his broad torso.
  • Fatal Flaw: His overconfidence tends to bite him in the ass. While admirable, Dion's battle strategies are usually simplified to 'go in, kick-ass, win' without really considering if he's even capable of defeating the enemy. This extends to his overarching goal of becoming chieftain, as he has no idea what kinds of fighters await him during the hiehlain games.
  • Finishing Move: Bashing his skull into the opponent's head. Likely to result in a concussion or severe brain damage.
  • Friends with Benefits: Is often Beatrix's first choice in fuck buddies, and for good reason. The two hold much love and admiration for each other without it complicating their relationship. Plus, it's possible Dion's one of the few male characters who can match the witch's enhanced libido. Beatrix has even stated that she plans a special 'coronation' for Dion once he assumes the role of chieftain.
  • Full Frontal Assault: His giblets are covered only by his black fleece, and he has no trouble jumping into the fray without protection.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Unless you are a personal friend or family member, do not expect him to extend that same compassion and comradery towards you. Especially if you've done something he deems unforgivable! Through the later chapters of Everywhere and Nowhere, he remained skeptical of letting Shadow Scythe and Zeloph join their party, even when he was steadily warming up to them.
  • Headbutt of Love: Contrasting the battle variant, this is Dion's common form of expressing affection to his family and loved ones.
  • Horned Humanoid: He is a large caprine warrior with big curved horns.
  • Hot-Blooded: Everything Dion does is with fiery passion and an unbridled desire to succeed.
  • Hunk: A rugged example, sporting big muscles, a handsome face, and a charming (at times) personality. On the sexy side of things, he's very endowed. Specifically with large balls (a common trait for rams.)
  • I Can Still Fight!: Much to the annoyance of whoever has to treat Dion when it becomes clear he shouldn't continue to brawl.
  • Knight, Knave, and Squire: Forms this when bonding with Zeloph and Midnight during the bathtub scene in Everywhere and Nowhere, becoming the Knight to the demi-human's Knave and the soldier's Squire.
  • Letmotif: "Battleborn", a bombastic military-esque piece that captures Dion's tender and fierce nature.
  • Lightning Bruiser: A powerful blend of physique bulk and agility, with the tools to keep himself protected.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: His targe, which can also be amplified by Ares' archaic properties.
  • A Man is Always Eager: Honestly, it would be more telling to find an instant Dion wasn't willing to have sex with someone!
  • Manly Facial Hair: Boasts quite the impressive beard along his jaw.
  • Meaningful Name: His name likely comes from the Scottish Gaelic word Neach-dìon, meaning 'A defender'.
  • Monster Brother, Cute Sister: Downplayed. He is by no means a monster or ugly-looking, but his masculine bulk and intimidating presence likely scared many wannabee suitors away from his curvy, sweet-looking sister.
  • My Sister Is Off-Limits!: Proudly proclaims this when the suggestion was made for Oona to help Cerise tend to Midnight's hyper stallion needs during their trip. Oona rightfully calls him a hypocrite, given his own lecherous tendencies.
  • Polyamory: Started a relationship with the crystal maid twins, Amarinth and Amethyst, in The Bewitching Hour, though he's shown interest in adding one more person since both he and the maids are insatiable.
  • Rated M for Manly: Very manly, carrying out many fantasies a heterosexual male could ever want.
  • Red Baron: 'The Dauntless' is a rather fitting moniker for a battle-loving ram.
  • Scotireland: Comes from land that blends Scottish and Irish mythical creatures, legends, and themes. He also speaks with a slight accent.
  • Shield Bash: Dion's more likely to hit his opponents with his targe than actually use it to defend himself.
  • Sibling Team: He and Oona have aided each other during a few battles, most notably against Grogar atop the mountain prison.
  • Three Yay/Twin Threesome Fantasy: With the crystal maids Wet Nurse and Foal-Bearer, who took an interest in Dion during one visit to the manor. The three have been tight ever since, as, with him, they desire to be more than servants, much to Bellatrix's surprise. Only time will tell if they can fully separate from the manor's magic without risk of fading away. But until then, Dion is happy to return their love and affection, although he's still put off by them calling him 'master.'
  • Use Your Head/Horn Attack: His coup de grace.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Rarely will you find Dion with anything more than his pauldron and green cowl. Not that many female characters seem to mind.
  • "Well Done, Son!" Guy: It's strongly implied that Dion feels he hasn't earned Haden's full respect. If the older rams' disappointed gaze upon his son's elimination from the competition is anything to go by, he might be justified in those beliefs.

This page will go through continuous edits as the stories go on. If there are any tropes you think should be added, feel free to make suggestions!
Special thanks to Midnight for helping me compose the music!

Glad to see another of these! He helps balance the cast out, since it's largely female dominated!

Tis the nature of the MLP medium. Nonetheless, he defiantly brings balance combat wise as well!

Indeed, admittedly I prefer to write female characters but probably have more males in my top favorites simply because I'm spoiled for choice in fiction!

Happy to finally read this! Hope that soon his theme gets created to be added to this list!
