About Dragonfire · 10:07pm Jul 12th, 2022

I guess now is as good as ever to address the elephant in the room.

I haven’t forgotten about Dragonfire. But I haven’t exactly been giving it enough attention it needed either.

Let’s just say, over the years, I’ve gotten new ideas and learn different knowledge about storytelling. And it’s shaped my perspectives differently than before.

Personally, looking back, I wasn’t too sure if I like what I see.

  • The hero was too overpowering.
  • The story’s “hook”, and a few “plot devices”, have run their courses.
  • And maybe the story’s gotten too long for it’s own good. (I hadn’t fully thought out how I wanted it to end to begin with…)

So, I decided to step away from the story.

I started to read some other stories, while analyzing the thoughts put into the works, in hope that I might actually learn from those experiences.

I needed to become a better writer, so one day I can finish Dragonfire on a strong note.

Sadly, it’s been more than five years now, and I still haven’t gotten to finishing the story — now that I have more to work on.

I’m sorry for letting everyone down.

Attached to this blog are the last three remaining chapters I’m ending the story on. Read at your own risks.

  1. Our heroes venture into Fear Haunter’s “funhouse of horror.” Everyone all got lost in a maze of traps, monsters, and facing their greatest fears. I was binge reading VirtualCipher’s Fear Within for the general ideas…
  2. A few months after the fiasco with Fear Haunter, it was the school’s opening night for the students’ musical show. As usual, some fiascos are inbound: Vlad Blueblood tries upstage Spike and Rarity, Fluttershy getting occasional jitters, etc. But as usual, the show must go on!
  3. At long last, Spike finally gets to spend a single night with both his adopted mother and aunt.

Me and Mecha were also planning on making an entire new fanfic series of Dragonfire, featuring more adventures of the “Knights,” and then some.

But, I was also considering on writing a “prequel” to “illustrate” how an amnesiac Spike got to meet his guys, and his decade of growing up in New York.

But those are just some thoughts I needed to share. What do you, the readers, think?

If you need to borrow an OC, let me know.

I couldn't blame you for stepping away. I mean I got plenty of stories to work on and sometimes I don't touch a specific one of them for awhile for various reasons. Not motivated enough or not sure where I want to go. You do what you do and I'll support your decision

Have you thought about rebooting this story, but also keeping the original draft?

Honestly, I feel that all the arcs in Dragonfire could be sectioned off into separate stories just to make things easier to follow and/or work on.

It has been a while since I've read the whole story through so I could just be asking a dumb question, but did you ever do anything related to Spike's birth-parents?

Maybe you should do that when you have finished all the stories that you're working on.
