Season 4 Was So Damn Good · 8:38pm Jul 9th, 2022

So I finally got around to watching season 4 of Stranger Things last week, and holy shit was it awesome! This season was an absolute rollercoaster all the way through. I appreciate the return of the horror element that was present in season 1. I mean yeah sure, season 2 and 3 had it to a degree but it mostly felt like those two seasons were way more comical than horror. This new season is well balanced in both aspects, but leans more towards horror which I love.

This season had a lot going on too, from Hopper trying to escape the gulag, to the murders in Hawkins, and the California chapter, it's pretty meaty. I gotta say though the Soviet chapter didn't really add much to the story but It at least makes it up for how entertaining it is to watch.

The introduction of Vecna as the main villain was also an awesome addition. It was about time Stranger Things had a villain with motives, a personality, etc, and the surprise reveal made sense and was pretty cool. A lot of times he reminded me Freddy Krueger, the characters even make a comparison between Vecna and Freddy which I appreciate. Speaking of which the surprise cameo from Robert Englund in the series was awesome and he did a nice job.

But by far my favorite addition in the series was the character Eddie Munson. A character that steals the show in whatever scene he's in, his relationship with Dustin, and eventually the other characters is very wholesome and real. He's a character I can relate to a lot, it also helps that the guy is a metalhead who's in a band. His references to 80's metal bands made me smile everytime.

I loved this character so much that when he died it managed to make me spill some tears. His final moments with Dustin, the way he sacrificed his life for a town that wanted him dead, Dustin's talk with his uncle, was genuinely heartbreaking to experience.

All in all, this was an awesome season and they completely knocked it out of the park. This competes heavily with season 1 for me in terms of my favorite season. I can't wait to see what the Duffer bros have in store for us for the final season.
