BATMAN & ROBIN 20 YEARS · 2:45am Jun 21st, 2022

Happy 25th to this chaotic extravaganza!

Again I promised, a retrospective, celebration, and defense on this needlessly controversial film but since Dad went down with his stroke, I've lost the nerve and energy to write such a piece. I'll get around to doing that eventually, so I encourage you to check back here occasionally to see it published here.

I'll leave you with this for now:

A few years ago, I went to the Arnold Classic with my cousins who brought me so that I could get his autograph on the action figure pictured above. I never even got close to him, because of the HUGE throng of fans that followed him everywhere hoping to get their Terminator 2 posters signed by him. At least I got to be in the same room with him, and watched him make announcements on stage while holding a joey (baby kangaroo) under his arm.

Someday Mr. Schwarzenegger, I'll get you to sign this, even if I have to wait a whole ice age for it!

And as food for thought: what separates George Clooney from all the theatrical Batmen, is that he is the ONLY theatrical Batman who actually SAVED and REDEEMED the main villain of the film Mr. Freeze.

Contrast that with all the Batmen and their villains in all the other movies where they end up either dead, or thrown behind bars and forgotten about.

It's one of the many reasons why I love this film so much.
