Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with another movie review for today! This afternoon, I will be talking about Disney's Big Hero 6, from 2014! This was yet another animated Disney film I have never seen before and was rather interested in seeing it. Therefore, I gave this film a chance and watched it for the first time last night. All I can say....is that it is amazingly awesome! This was a huge breath of fresh air after having to deal with one of Disney's worst films this week; I can once again talk of a film that is actually well-written, has a great story, is filled with a steady balance of humor and emotion, and is a lot more entertaining. These are the type of movies Disney and the other companies like Paramount and Warner Brothers need to focus on making, not the ridiculous parody overly-meta films that rely on pop culture references just to stay relevant and to excuse poor writing. This movie was something I needed to see, and it was able to exceed my expectations.

This movie is about a young kid who is into robot-fighting while he ignores his important duties. His older brother shows him an advanced robotic technology that would instantly arrest his interest and also introduces him to a robot programmed to help people: Baymax. However, tragedy strikes the boy and his new friends as a fire erupted in the robotics institute, killing his brother. With a dangerous super-villain rising up, the Big Hero 6 work together to foil his schemes and solve the mystery of his brother's death.

The 3D animation looked really well-done and splendid, the action choreography was excellently eye-catching, and the voice acting was absolutely spot-on. Ryan Potter, Scott Adsit, T.J. Miller, Jamie Chung, and James Cromwell stood out to me the most. Hiro, GoGo, Wasabi, Fred, and Honey Lemon were all equally enjoyable characters from start to finish. They had distinct personalities that made them stand out from the rest and had great lines of dialogue. Baymax was just a cute little inflatable robot who is honestly ten times more adorable then Bumblebee himself. Yes, I said it.

This guy was a force to be reckoned and is one of the best characters of the movie! Professor Callaghan, also known as Yokai, was a surprisingly well-written villain with a solid revenge motivation. Just like with Sandman, he is a man who would do anything to save his daughter and destroy anyone who would get in his way or in the way of his plans. He has, hands down, an awesome design which is one of the best villain designs I have ever seen in a kids movie. He is and looks like a silent killer who wastes no time...in wasting his victims. Now, that's a killer right there! I also liked how they used Alistair Krei as the red herring to throw us off in regards to Yokai's true identity. My only complaint is that there weren't enough hints to set up Callaghan as the true villain. There was at least one hint that implied he had a hatred for Krei, but it wasn't enough for me. In fact, he would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for those meddling writers making him so awesome character-wise and design-wise. James Cromwell did a great job voicing him in this film.

This film taught an important lesson about continuing the work of helping and saving people even when others we love lose their lives in the process. Hiro and Yokai were two sides of the same coin--two characters who suffered loss of their closest loved ones. Yokai was what Hiro would have become if he let his rage and revenge consume him like they did the former. Revenge never takes the pain away, for it only makes it worse and doesn't bring your lost family back. So the moral of moving and remaining steadfast in doing what's right for the good of others was well-expressed and well-portrayed.

Overall, I genuinely enjoyed this movie. I give this a solid 10/10!

Peace!

I didn't like it when Baymax had his medical chip taken out.

Honestly, I wished that the third season of the TV show didn’t have to be relegated to 11-minute segments.

I really enjoy this movie since this is one of those superhero movies where the heroes use their brain and tech as their powers then someone having superpowers of some kind

I agree with you on all of this.

Everything about "Big Hero 6" provided a rollicking great time, and it's also a movie that I actually want to see a sequel of.
