5000 words down on the sixth and final Firefly chapter... · 9:37pm Jun 15th, 2022
For which I have an announcement. Into the Storm will be marked complete with this final chapter release.
The reason for that is threefold: first, there’s a lot of people out there who only read completed stories. Second, the length is getting intimidating for new readers. And third, I just find myself with a need to mark something complete and get it off my plate. I’d also like to see if I can pick up a few reviews as well, since many of the big reviewers generally require a story to be finished first.
I emphasize that this does NOT mean that the story of Firefly is ending. It will continue, just in a brand new story. In the past, I thought I was preserving readers by continuing the existing story, but I’m no longer sure that’s the case. So we’ll try it a new way. I’ll aim for a launch of the new story in early September after I’ve gotten a couple months of work on my other stuff, but don’t be surprised if I let it slip until after Halloween to allow myself more work on Nightmare Night.
And finally, I’d like to acknowledge all the feedback I received on my last blog post. It was appreciated. I’m sorry if I came across as snippy, but please understand, folks: it’s demoralizing to put in all that work, and then see little to no feedback on the chapter. A lot of people say “Just because I don’t comment doesn’t mean I don’t like it,” but the thing is, I don’t know that unless I’m told, and below-average feedback leaves me wondering if the chapter was a dud or if there was otherwise something wrong with it.
So remember to offer your favorite author feedback now and again, folks. And I don’t just mean me, I mean all authors. It’s what motivates us to write, especially when we don’t otherwise get paid for our works. In my case, a story like this takes an enormous amount of time, and it’s not the only thing I work on. So if you want us to keep writing your favorite story, give us a reason.
I can definitely understand that. I haven't had the chance to read any of your other stories then the phoenix wright one, but I'll check out this one once it's marked complete.
Personaly i read even Canceld storys, but i do indeed put them even behind the incomplet pile...
Some in the Community make jokes or are simply confused why i like to comment on every chapter i read if i have the time. As you stated, it helps keep the spirit up, sometimes i find constructive critics, but more often than not i simply love to simply let the Author of a story know how awesome they did
I even bring back some Authors back after years of inactivity. Motivation is to find in upvotes, comments, pm's and letting other simply know how awe inspiring their work is.
I often regreat finding Gems of writen art only many years after they are finished, in Hiatus or Canceld.
Stay healthy, happy and most importantly:
Have fun
....well, this announcement has made me notice I'm not actually following you, I just get blog posts for following Firefly. Gonna rectify that so that when the next story drops in the future, I'll be there to read it.

Very good. In the meantime, there’s a completed prequel to Into the Storm you should read first:
- MLP: FiM
- Dark
- Adventure
Before the Wonderbolts, there were the Bolt Knights. And before Rainbow Dash, there was Firefly. The story of Rainbow Dash's ancestor, the origin of the Wonderbolts, and the coming of the Great Pony/Gryphon War.5665116
Good for you. A lot of people won’t, but you miss out on some gems that way, even if they’re unfinished.
Well, speaking for myself, I very much appreciate that, sir, and look forward to seeing your comments on my chapters.
Then all I can say is, keeping doing it! Feedback, especially positive feedback, is crucial for a writer to keep writing.
That’s simply a product of the fandom being around for as long as it has. After ten-plus years, plenty of people have entered and left it, and some just up and left their half-finished stories behind.
I’ll do my best!

I saw the notification for your watch come through last night. Thanks.

Reviews? Send it to the Reviewer's Mansion! They actually take the time to review people's work.
While it is sad to be moving on, this is a natural break point.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll do that when this is wrapped up.
