Greetings, everyone. This is Mr. J back with another movie review for today. This afternoon, I will be reviewing the second installment of the Jurassic Park trilogy entitled: The Lost World: Jurassic Park. This is honestly my favorite film of this trilogy and probably my overall second favorite Jurassic movie out of all five movies so far. It is a lot more action-packed, more engaging, and has a more interesting storyline. I really don't get why some people hate this movie or consider it weak. I thought it was slightly better than the first movie (although I enjoyed the first movie), and this film was actually a lot better than I remember. As I said before, I grew up watching the first two movies of the original trilogy as a kid. After having re-watched them not too long ago, I thought they were still amazing. This one was much better than I can remember as I only recalled the T-Rex scenes.

This movie continues where the first movie left off: another island is discovered where other dinosaurs are alive, well, and are breeding. Therefore, Dr. Ian Malcolm and Dr. John Hammond must work together to observe and document the reptiles before the latter's financiers can get to them.

As I said, I really liked the way they were expanding the story and were progressing with its returning characters. We as the viewers get to see more of the terrifying nature of the genetically-engineered dinosaurs and see once again the arrogance of the humans playing God. Plus, I was so happy the filmmakers gave the T-Rex more screen-time in this movie. One of the things that makes this sequel more watchable than the first one is more T-Rex action and see how ferocious that beautiful beast really is.

The animatronics and choreography were well-done and were quite fascinating even for a 1997 movie. The editing was great, the soundtrack was decent, and the writing was definitely on-point. There were some action scenes I immediately remembered as I was re-watching it, but there were some other scenes I didn't remember at all. Those scenes in particular were the ones I was amazed by the most such as the tyrannosauruses coming together to attack our characters. That was awesome.

The acting, of course, was pretty good. Jeff Goldblum once again nailed the role of Ian Malcolm, the late Richard Attenborough as John Hammond, Vanessa Lee Chester as Kelly Curtis, and Peter Stormare as Dieter Stark. Those characters stood out to me the most in this movie, and their performers all did great in my opinion.

This movie did a great job in conveying the darker tone of dinosaurs wrecking havoc in the modern world. Look at the scene of the T-Rex wandering around in the city and then in a random neighborhood where he ate a dog (off-screen) and struck fear in many people. That scene always stood out to me the most ever since I first watched it as a kid. Back then, I kept thinking about dinosaurs running around in the city and had a secret fear of a T-Rex stomping in my neighborhood and looking at people through a window. That's a good thing I learned that dinosaurs have been extinct for many years. *Sigh* I really miss being a kid. Anyway, this movie--while flawed--is a wonderful addition in the Jurassic Park/World franchise. I will rate this a solid 9/10!

Peace.

No one has the right to play God.

I agree with you on this.

"The Lost World" was definitely not a perfect movie, but it's also perhaps one of the most severely underrated sequels I ever saw. Even today, I can't understand why many others dislike this movie, and I honestly believe it provided as a terrific expansion to the franchise.
