I just saw the movie... and it's SO MUCH FRIGGIN FUN! There was also a 'dawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww' scene with Sonic and Tails in Siberia. Literally, the audience went "DAWWWWWW!!" I've never actually experienced that before... it was kinda eerie, actually. Like the mind-control musical numbers in Pony.
It's much better than the first, since the main introductions are finished with, so it has time for more story. And Carrey really brings his A game. He absolutely owns the screen when he's on it.
The only thing that disappoints is I didn't spot any sneaky insertion of Ugandan Knuckles. But maybe someone else spotted something in one of the temple pictures or something.
Anyway, if they go ahead with a third film, a 'shadowy' figure looms...
I think there was a slight hint to that with Robotnick saying "Let me show you the way".
Other than that, I also liked the movie. My major issue is that power levels are confusing. Like, Knuckles gets stunned by getting hit by a taxi, yet he can tank multiple hits from Sonic?
Sonic can fight someone like Knuckles, yet he can't break out of a cage?
Maybe is just me being raised by Archie Sonic level of crazy power levels, but I still find it rather annoying.
Really hope that a certain character in the third movie won't be nerfed because of reasons.
5655555 In other words, they have proper DBZ power scaling, in which none of it actually makes sense!
I mean, it fits because Super Sonic is basically just Goku.
They were to busy to be in the movie. They found Da Queen
https://m.To be fair, most of the characters just plain refuse to take battles to the death seriously. And given the eponymous Dragon Balls, I'm not even sure that's unrealistic.
5658840 Nah, try analyzing the 'power levels' sometime, and the level of destruction possible. It COMPLETELY lacks any scaling. Vegeta could blow up a planet the first time he shows up, with a max power level of 22,000. But then Final Form Freeza at 100% can just... blow up a planet... with a power level estimated to be between 30 and 50 million, given the second form stated level of 1 million and the subsequent power ups and their relative effectiveness against the Z warriors as THEY continued to power up.
And THEN you get the insane power ups in the Cell Saga, with Super Perfect Cell where power levels could exceed a BILLION... and they're all still shocked when the planet might get blown up. Hell, at that point, farting should blow up the planet!
I fully admit that I'm talking out of my ass to excuse the inexcusable, but the insanity of such an action is more than just the required power level. Like, why would you want to destroy the planet? What purpose does that serve? Frieza was actually pretty good about this, explaining the tactical advantage he gains from taking away his foes' ability to breathe while retaining his own.
And it probably could! The reason it doesn't is because a key part of their training is keeping control of their powers. That's why they were able to feign power levels that are only slightly higher than Hercule's, except 18 who made an initial miscalculation because she's still not used to being a good guy and Vegeta who just destroys the machine because f downplaying your capabilities.
