Is Writing Supposed to Be Fun?

After some thinking, a lot of advice, and a bit of writing and writer's block, I'm starting to think that writing isn't supposed to be fun anymore. I'm not trying to cause trouble. I just wanted to know if writing is supposed to be fun or not. What do you guys think?

it clearly all depends. Many times when I write. I feel that pressure. Sometimes its for them depending on what genre and then trying to get new users to take a look at it. It's very pressure if you like that sort of stuff when people judge on your writing then writing is for you. building a reputation takes time and effort. it's kind of hard.... but active would be the greatest thing.

The process as a whole is not fun, but one should find it entertaining most of the time.

If not, then take a break and think on what you're writing.

Is it entertaining to you? Would you read what you're writing if you were a newcomer to it?

It yes, then continue writing. If no, then it's fine to quit.

I only write when I'm creatively active or late at night when I'm tired. But that's just me. Sometimes it can suck, but that's with everything you do, if you're stuck its going to make it not fun.

It can be very challenging task, but it becomes fun once you begin to enjoy what you've written and see that others enjoy what you write as well.
But again, it takes time and you need to take a break from time to time. Otherwise you'll burn out.

Writing can be fun and it has its moments when you're able to craft something you yourself are proud of and can be enjoyed. That being said, like anything good and worthwhile in life, you need to put time and effort into it, and that also gets coupled with the caveat that you will at some point inevitably fail and will need to rethink and learn from your mistakes.

I would say it depends...

• It is fun when you're writing one of these stories where you're 'in the zone' and words are flowing like crazy. Writing the first draft of a chapter/story can be fun too.
• But the editing phase is usually dull instead of fun.
• And writer's block is DEFINITELY NOT FUN - it's a pain. And if it hits you when you're working on some multi-chapter story, it can be pure suffering and agony until you get through it.
