My first impressions playing an imported video game for the first time · 1:46am May 3rd, 2022
So, my copy of Megaton Musashi finally came in the mail today. I'm still salty Level 5 isn't localizing their stuff anymore, but hey, the Switch actually isn't region locked, so here we are. Regardless, I'm managing to play the thing despite almost all the text being in Japanese thanks to my games literacy. The button icons in the tutorial were pretty much all I needed to get the combat controls, and navigating the maps basically amounts to 'follow the arrow to the glowing <!>'. Being unable to read the dialogue isn't an issue, as I already watched the anime, and the story is identical. So I just skip all of it.
The biggest problem, obviously, are the menus. I know how to save, and that's basically it. The first real problem came when I accidentally sold all my loot from the first mission because I couldn't tell what anything said. 😅 I imagine the farther I get, the harder things will be, almost solely due to the mech loadout screen. Essentially the only metrics I have for figuring out which parts are good are the rarity stars and the numbers. Which is fine for weapons, but the bonus effect chips, which have nothing but text? Yeah, that's not going to work.
So, uh, wish me luck?
Oof. Good luck. This may prove frustrating.
Good luck!
