People who want LIKABLE WRITING VS ME (A guy who prefers more REALISTIC WRITING than cliched expectancy)

Mykan's Author Avatars in Friendship is Failure are meant to be seen as martyrs who didn't get what they wanted and have to suffer because of it.
I want them to suffer for it; not pick themselves up and move on. Some people are like that... they just give up on life. They're sick and tired of trying to get something (Namely happiness they crave in their own way) that just isn't going to happen, and what you may offer them is not the correct stuff they want. So they give up!
Besides, I've got to give them a REASON to be angry and miserable to the point where some of them go bad!
Actually reading the stories will tell you that they're just selfish Psychopathic Manchildren who throw varying degrees of temper tantrums because life didn't bend down and kiss their feet, and universally have a dubious understanding, at best, of the term "sorry" even when they wrong other ponies.
Yeah, I mean it's not like they were treated horribly from the start which PUSHED them to becoming what they were; and even if they did change they would still be treated just as horribly.
Stone Heart in Writer's Blockade, Write a Wrong, and Write of Way. In the first story, we are meant to feel sorry for him because his best friend ended up with the woman he loved and, in both stories, because no one supports his writing.
It's not just lack of support, but outright bullying, panning, torment and being treated like he's not worth anything and that he should just disappear-- even long before he started writing.
However, he came off as more of a creepy stalker in the first story to the girl he liked (such as writing her as the love interest in his stories and not understanding what the big deal was when she asked him to stop);
Not writing her, but writing inspired by her, and characters who are based off of her. In other words, he's doing what I once did with friends and family-- making stories with characters based on us in them... to preserve my good memories and to show how much they inspired me and what they mean to me.
Nobody likes to be told outright to "STOP" just like that. I didn't take it well... there were fights, and break-offs, and refusal to change the story.
"My way or the highway!"
furthermore, when his life-long friends tried to help him, he interpreted it as an insult and cut ties with them, demonstrating how little he cared for them.
Or maybe how little they cared about HIM too; trying offer him the kind of help he objected to, and trying to turn him into a person he does not want to be. (Aren't real friends supposed to appreciate and respect you for WHO YOU ARE, and not what they WANT FROM YOU?)
He refuses to write about anything else or anyone else... do not even think about trying to help him find new inspiration.
The same way I treat guys like Beast Boy...
-Don't help him move on
-Don't convince him to change
-Don't help him feel better
instead...
-Help him get back together with Terra...
-Help him get revenge on Terra/those who wronged him
-Help him end his life faster.
Help him THAT WAY, not the other way.

Additionally, in all three stories, he expects people to accept his writing and treat it as good despite all the flaws in it, just because it's what he wants to write. He adamantly refuses to accept any form of constructive criticism, only to turn around and blame everyone else for his failures.
People mock and bully him no matter what he writes. Some bullies even admitted that even if he changes, they will hurt him because they enjoy taunting him and watching him squirm... showing they care nothing about literature, but getting a quick laugh at someone else's expense.
The third story actually has him being somewhat successful, but he despises it all due to the revisions not fitting with his twisted view on how the world works, and he outright gives all of his payment checks to charity not out of the kindness of his heart, but because he doesn't want to be rewarded for it.
It's not a twisted view... how we WANT the world to work, and how we SEE how it works are both different and the same at the same time.
First of all: Being a success is not the same as Being Happy...
You can make a lot of money, contribute well to society, make lots of people happy for your efforts... and you can still show nothing but total apathy for it. (You don't like your job. You don't care about your contributions. The joy you bring people means nothing to you.)
Stone Heart does not wish to be awarded for something he hates and that robbed him of his pride and dignity, and you can't make him. It doesn't matter how much you think he SHOULD feel happy and proud and be thankful... it's up to him, not you, and he says "No!"
Second of all: (And this has been covered many times)
Charities don't really care about who you are, or the kindness and generosity you do; they just want your money. That's what a charity is for... TO COLLECT DONATIONS... not JUDGE PEOPLE'S MORALS.
Many of my retarded haters suggested the stupid idea that the charities reject Stone's donations simply "Because he donated out of spite, and not true generosity."
Again, the whole point of a charity is to simply GET MONEY, not JUDGE PEOPLE, and also... why give it back? That's a lot of money there; probably twice as much you would have made in the charity by regular donations. You just made more money than you hope you would and you can really help those you're collecting for...
...And you want to give it all up just because you don't like HOW or WHY it was given to you?
What about all those multi-millionaires and tycoons; they usually just make large donations to boost their public image-- maybe they don't really give a damn about you. would give the money back even though you could really use it?
He's also a lot less pleasant this time around, outright telling a delivery pony to inform Celestia (Mykan's so-called "harmless crush") that she can "go to the devil" and outright threatens bodily harm on Twilight.
Again, Stone wants no reward, no praise, and no goodness coming from stories he feels are "A disgrace" and that includes Celestia.
She likes the story... therefore, he does not like her, trust her much. PERIOD.
Twilight was getting on his nerves with her constant harassment, and her so-called "Expectancy" to win him over to her way of thinking.
Needle Stitch/Manny Collars in Fallout Fashions. Presumably, we're meant to see him as sympathetic because he was "betrayed" by his extremely close friend Rarity when she took credit for a dress design he made for her as a gift, except not only did Rarity regret the decision and apologize, she went out of her way to discontinue the dress thus risking a major PR disaster as a way to make it up to him... and Manny still refused to forgive her even after she helps his newly opened store get a lot of business.
It does not matter...
-If the dress was a gift...
-If she regretted it, discontinued it...
The fact is, Rarity willfully stole the credit for herself, and had Neddle/Manny labeled as a criminal, which got him cast out and hooted by all.
There is no defense or apology for Rarity... you don't even realize how lucky she is she was not charged for this.
The suspect was found guilty on one count of Forgery, and one count of Robbery in the Second Degree; punishable by imprisonment in the state penitentiary from 1 to 14 years.
She was also charged and found guilty on one count of Grand Theft. Which is publishable by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than one year, or in the state prison for not more than ten years."
There's an episode of Dragnet called "THE BIG KIDS"

Guy was caught, and he made lame excuses. "I could pay for the stuff, and we'll forget the whole thing. Those guys won't even miss the stuff, they have more." Not on his life. He still stole, he must answer for it.
That goes for Rarity, her apologies and efforts don't change a thing... She committed a crime. Period. So stop trying to say she's kind of sweet angel inside.
However, he confronted her in public, meaning that he was intending to ruin Rarity's reputation, instead of confronting her privately so he could hear her side of the story and work something out.
Now you'd be charged with conspiracy...
He never tried to ruin Rarity and it was never his intention to do. He just wanted her out of his life, so he barred her from his stores all over and wanted very little to do with her-- for fear she would ruin his life again!! (She's RARITY after all, the most self-centered, most hypocritical of the entire Mane Cast)
Manny's incredibly petty and unnecessarily complex way of dealing with the situation doesn't help. He changed his identity and got rid of his cutie mark simply because Rarity helped him get it.
Also because of Rarity scandal on him, he has to change his identity so people don't snub him. (Learn to read outside the narrative)
He goes as far as to specifically ban Rarity from his store and try to have her arrested when she attempts to get answers from him, which comes off less as payback for previous slights and more as him being just plain vindictive. Furthermore, the design Rarity copied was given to her as a gift by Needle; while passing it off as her own work was dishonest, Needle making such a big ruckus over something he gave away as a present makes him seem even pettier.
Rarity has already been found guilty of her crimes, and now here she is stalking and harassing a pony trying fruitlessly to force him to forgive her; only he can decide that for himself... and the answer is "No"
Rarity deserves no sympathy; just scorn.
Strings in Love Doesn't Work That Way. He's meant to be seen as sympathetic because he loves Cadance who he can never be with which is affecting his mental health. Instead, he comes off as a pathetic loser who refuses to move on from a foalhood crush. It doesn't help he's planning to move away to get away from Cadance and doesn't even think of telling his close friend Sun Rae (who has an obvious crush on him that he completely misses) until the last possible second.
-What? you don't believe that love can sometimes make you crazy, or do strange things, or affect you in hard ways?
-In other words you expect him-- no... "Expect" isn't the right word-- you DEMAND he just "Get over it! Forget about Cadance, and GROW THE (BLEEP) UP." (There's a difference between EXPECT and DEMAND)
-He saw a psychiatrist who suggested he move, and the doc is right... you people always tell me "Don't do things that make you unhappy" (Even though I'd rather do it) Now you're telling Strings TO DO THINGS that make him unhappy, mentally harm him, just because you WANT HIM to do what YOU WANT FOR YOU.
It's like asking a guy on a broken leg to go figure skating just because you don't want to refund your tickets.
-As for Sun, whether or not HE KNOWS he has feelings for him... that's just too bad. He does not love her, want her, and you can't force him to change.
His love is for Cadance, and her only. He knows he cannot be with her and makes no attempt to try and be with her... but just the same...
"If I can't be with her... then I'd rather be alone."

Davis can only be with Kari... and NO ONE ELSE.
It doesn't matter if someone else loves you to pieces, would take a bullet for you... would even be your Cinderella slave girl... The answer is "No!"
Some people are like that... and it IS a way the works works. They have their eyes/heart/mind set on ONE... only ONE, and they wish no one else.
THERE MAY BE PLENTY OF OTHER FISH IN THE SEA...
BUT THE FISHERMAN HAS NO DESIRE FOR THEM, SO HE DOES NOT CAST AGAIN.

Talon Ted in Pride and Punishment. For starters, there's his complete refusal to make anything of his life simply because things are not going the way he specifically wants them to, only feeling satisfied when he gets someone else without a degree to do all the work for him. Heck, he goes as far as to rescind a charitable donation he made, purely to spite his sister
People were bossing Talon around all his life, kinda of like YOU do the when you said "twisted view on how the world works," with no grasp or willful ignorance to alternate possibilities and realities.
Talon has a dream not just act, but to prove people wrong and put an end to their own "twisted view on how the world works," and that is you don't need a degree to have talent. Talent is YOU, not some piece of paper, and you can show this talent just as easily by simple auditioning or showing off.
...But the way you people act, and the way the story goes. All you need IS the degree, and they'll hire you on the spot even though you didn't even audition. They just assume you are good, when the fact is you're terrible.
Heavily proven by Talon's trick with his friend...
He didn't have a degree, and yet they saw him perform and praised him well. When the truth is, had they knew he hadn't a degree... they wouldn't even give him the time of day (They wouldn't let him even try) They are proven to be bigoted and biased when it comes to recruiting people and fair play.
As for spiting his sister: He never did really rescind it) He's trying to show people what a bullying nutcase his sister really is, and her attempts to attack him in public proves it.
by most standards, there's no way for him to climb back onto the moral high ground after that. Mykan (the author of this fic) eventually revisited the story and revised it to try and make Talon Ted more sympathetic. Key word being "try"; aside from removing the part about him rescinding his donation (and inserting an author's note vehemently denying that he ever did and any implications thereof) and changing his job from toll booth operator to loading dock worker (poorly given that mentions of the toll booth still pop up in the text), the character is still pretty much the same, and the attempts at portraying Ath-Lita as "more abusive and insane" simply amounted to making her angrier - which, given her brother's behavior, is still entirely justifiable (if not more so, since Ted became even whinier in response).
You saying all those things and agreeing with them only makes Talon's anger and actions all the more justified, while it is YOU who has no " no way to climb back onto the moral high ground after that." especially given how skewed your morals were to begin with.
You can't stand that Talon is refusing his dream goal simply out of pride, so you judge him as lazy, pathetic, and people somehow right and justified in beating him up.
Talon still has and does his job. He does it well, he gets paid, he pays his bills and taxes like normal, and working as a dock loader, he contributes to society by getting parcels to where they need to go...
...But that's just not enough for you is it? He's got to do bigger, he's gotta do better... he's gotta do what YOU SAY just to satisfy YOU!
No, it's you people and Ath-lita who are being unsympathetic.
Ath-Lita is not a *WellIntentionedExtremist* as the fanfic section says. She's is a downright, abusive, psychotic, control-freak. It's not just her brother she wails on... she's been wailing on EVERYONE since she was little...

...When something doesn't go her way, or satisfy her enough, she pick up her bat and start wailing on you! And you have the GALL... the absolute nerve to say she is justified in what she does?! She has no right whatsoever, and she was charged for it.
She's not looking out for her brother... just herself.
Count Logan once again makes his way here; he's still supposed to come off as sympathetic to audiences (or at least to Mykan) in spite of his atrocious misdeeds,
Once again it is a matter of the difference between UNDERSTANDABLE and JUSTIFIABLE...
Even Batman TAS claims about the TERRIBLE TRIO... "Scoundrels like these are worse than the Joker. At least he's got madness as an excuse."
So does Logan, Madness that he was driven to NOT JUST SIMPLY BEING DUMPED BY HIS DREAM GIRL... but from a lifetime of being mistreated, robbed, denied, and broken all his life.
which is kind of hard to do as his visit to Equestria results in him ripping off Flurry Heart's head just because he can, which is generally the kind of thing writers have villains do to show that they're completely beyond redemption.
It wouldn't have mattered if Flurry Heart had lived... he'd still be beyond redemption to you.
Then again to me... the split second he ran out of that school, out of Terra's life, and attempted to move on with his own... HE'S WAY BEYOND THE POINT OF NO RETURN. (And I want him to suffer for it) That's why I make him into THIS... I can make him and the others suffer all at the same time.
And, of course, he's still his same old Omnicidal Maniac self.

The author tries to justify Logan's actions as him being possessed by the Dark Prognosticus,

which in turn was only made possible by Beast Boy being an unbearably wangsty asshat to begin with.
Yeah, he had no reason to be like that...
Not even the fact that... (In this story)
-His dream girl dumped him...
-His teammates are assholes to him (Especially Raven)...
-The whole city doesn't appreciate him or his efforts...
-He is constantly mistreated
-He's lost so many loved ones all his life...
-He's been denied happiness and joy up to his breaking point...
...Yeah, I guess he has no reason to go Positively Insane.
Finally, they portray him in a way I want him to be... especially during the INTERVENTION... (Which was taken down from YT... UGH!!)
In addition, this explanation falls completely flat given that Logan has several moments in the story that suggest he's at least partly in control of his actions, and none of those have him expressing any amount of remorse.
His actions are one thing... his Destiny/Purpose is another.
He was created by the book for the sole purpose to obliterate all worlds as foretold in the prophecy. His wanting revenge is just his insanity talking. While he initially seems remorseless, it's not denied... he does feel remorse for it, but he is trying hard to deny it and not show it. No matter how much remorse he feels... no matter how much he wants to undo all this... there's no way out for him. This is his destiny... PERIOD. (so he may as well enjoy the ride; go with the flow. Quit resisting)
The Book is the Master...

...End of story. (Besides... sometimes getting revenge DOES feel good and relieving)
Mykan has recently tried to backpedal and say Logan is cursed, not possessed. However, all of the same issues are still there. (Not to mention he's refused to acknowledge he ever said he was possessed in the first place.)
You people just refuse to see the difference between CURSED and POSSESSED.
In THE FORCE OF HATRED, BB is in fact possessed by the evil... it takes over his body and sends him into prison where he is helpless. In other words... he's being CONTROLLED to do things against his will, or without even knowing he's doing it.
As Count Logan, it's not the same. He was not possessed by an evil spirit, he was driven to his breaking point by people's negligence over him. The book was choosing him to be it's slave (Even though he did not really want this as he was seen backing away begging to be spared) The book then KILLED HIM, and reincarnated him as Logan, granting him all his evil powers. As Logan... he is still fully aware of what he is doing and what he is told to do (By the book) the revenge thing is just his own insanity...
Still, that's not being possessed, that's being cursed. (You were given powers you didn't ask for, don't want, and forced into a conquest you didn't really want to do in the right frame of mind) You have been cursed, not possessed.
...If that doesn't get through to you; you're hopeless.
Beast Boy's AU counterpart Garfield Logan in HSM V Ways of Life is just as bad if not worse. He acts like a complete Jerkass to everyone no matter how nice to him they are and actively kicks people while they're down.
Nevertheless, we're clearly meant to feel sorry for him on some level because he lost his parents when he was a kid, was tossed around from abusive foster home to foster home until he was left living in a creepy mansion where wolves try to get at him every day and has to work hard at his job to the point he barely gets any sleep.
What ruins this, however, is that anytime someone actually tries to help him get a better life, he tells them to get lost and he doesn't need help so clearly he's not that bothered by his crappy life if he feels he can afford to deny genuine offers of help. He's also a jerk to Terra and unlike Count Logan, he doesn't have the excuse of having his heart broken by her.
It's called GIVING UP ON LIFE...
No, not committing suicide, that's GIVING UP ON LIVING...
When you give up on life... you basically stop caring. You don't look ahead things anymore, and you stop trying to improve yourself or seek any happiness or better places because they just don't happen.
Gar has been hurt one too many times by people to the point where he no longer trusts humanity. They had their chance before... now it is too late. He no longer seeks happiness (Because there isn't any) and he's not going to be pushed around anymore. HE is taking control... and he's pushing back. (Not justice... but REVENGE baby)
The Equestria Girls... why should they be the exception? They are humans, they are made the exact same stuff... they are perfectly capable of being just as neglectful or uncaring as the rest.
Not justifying his actions and attitude, but it at least explains why he does it...
Besides, I want the girls to get talked down to and bullied, and make them realize "This is one thing that friendship alone will not spare them from"
Helper Soul. We're meant to see him as sympathetic because he lost the use of his leg in an accident which he blames his former best friend Night Light for which cost him his royal guard aspirations. Except Helper lost that leg saving Night Light from a life or death situation, making him look more petty than sympathetic.
Not anymore... I changed it. Helper was the one trapped in the snow. He called and BEGGED for Night Light to help him, which he COULD HAVE, but Night Light was to busy trying to care for Twilight Velvet, who was in no danger, was fine on her own, and even told him herself to go help him.
Now Helper's leg is hopelessly broken and hurts from time to time. He will never be able to walk or even stand on it again, and he cannot get a prostate leg either (the damage goes further up into his vitals. Any attempt at even the simplest procedure or even a magic spell will kill him)
Night Light's negligence cost his friend his leg, his dreams, and a good part of his life. There is no defense for Night Light here... he WILLFULLY ignored a friend in need just to stay by his love's side when she didn't need it.
It's basically the Equivalent of Ben Ten's stupid parents grounding him and forbidding him from doing his job just to keep HIM safe...
You would forbid a hero from doing his job, and let the whole be destroyed... just to save ONE PERSON?! That's not noble or caring... it is 100% foolish! Even parental love, while understandable, is not excusable.
It doesn't help he's yet another character who's bitter over the fact he Did Not Get the Girl. Another big issue is that his backstory is ripped off from Master Org, a horrible villain from Power Rangers... and Mykan still expects you to find him sympathetic.
So again you're expecting-- no-- DEMANDING/COMMANDING he just suck it up and get over it and move on.
Just because YOU can do that easily "Suck it up, and move on", doesn't mean everyone can, no matter how much you wish they would or tell them to. Some people can take it... Some don't.
That's how the world REALLY works...
and not to mention, because of the loss of his leg, his mother died in heartbreak for her son's loss. Night Light can... and IS held as being indirectly responsible for her death.
It's for these reasons he's seen as less of a victim of circumstance and more of an Asshole Victim. The rewrite of the story changes the incident that cost Helper his leg to Night Light saving Twilight Velvet from an accident over Helper, leading to a beam falling on Helper's leg and crushing it, in order to make him look more sympathetic. Ironically, this removes the one part of his backstory that could've made him sympathetic in any way, as he's still the same jealousy-driven Jerkass he was in the original.
So let me get this straight...
A pony who has...
-Lost the only girl he ever loved... (though she was never his)
-Was robbed of credit and shunned from spotlight...
-Had his leg broken and is in constant pain every day of his life...
-Can no longer make his dreams come true...
-Lost his mother...
...All because his so-called best friend betrayed him and neglected him...
...Has no reason to be angry, live a recluse, and not forgive Night Light for all this?
One person told me...
Yes! When the story plays like this, we EXPECT him to do what's right. We expect him to forgive, and forget, to put it all behind him, and to get his life back on track by FORGIVING his friend. WE EXPECT IT TO HAPPEN.
*Shakes head* I don't think so...
You don't expect it... you DEMAND it. You WANT Helper to suck it up and do what YOU FEEL is right FOR YOU. But the fact remains... no matter how much you feel he SHOULD or MUST do these things... it's not your decision; it's his.
You cannot force forgiveness on someone, and I feel that Helper is MORE than justified in chewing Night Light out. No amount of apology or willing to make up can ever put things right with him...
Let me tell you a true story I learned on Twitter a while back...
A guy who was locked in jail for over 40 years, charged with murder... he was FINALLY proven innocent and he was instantly released.
What then? The state were arguing that he would not receive Compensation at all.
I don't know if he was paid or this was settled or not... I do know this-- it means nothing! He's been in jail for the entirety of his life, and he's an old man now-- locked up for something HE DIDN'T DO!! How can you possibly make it up to him?! You can't bring his youth back, and even if you give him money to live a high life... he's so old... he's missed out... what can he possibly do?!
...I suppose you'll all tell me FORGIVE AND FORGET is ordered here too?
Same thing nearly applies to Night and Helper... Night's apologies and willing to help mean nothing...
-Helper's Leg is hopelessly broken (You can't fix it)
-His mother is dead (You can't bring her back)
-You can't help him find a date (He's too old; and most Mares want a Handsome, Rich, active pony; they don't want Helper)
...Night Light irreparably ruined Helper's life, he cannot make up for it.
Davis is meant to be seen as sympathetic because Kari doesn't wanna be with him and he's in love with her.
Many people, not just myself have written fics like that...
The way Kari behaves, she seems to treat Davis more of a toy for her amusement, rather than a good friend. It's bad enough she refuses to give him one chance at a date, but she also flirts with TK and other boys for the sole purpose of making Davis feel jealous so she can laugh at him, on top her teasing him. (Twilight Sparkle would not be pleased with this behavior)
And that's just the half if... Many of us don't like how everyone IGNORES Davis-- They don't listen to his ideas (Especially when almost all the time he's right) They never take him seriously, and tease him just as badly as Kari does.
-They laugh at him
-They don't consider his plans
-They prefer to run away when the going gets tough
-They prefer to go with their own INEFFECTIVE PLANS...
...And when he saves them, he is still treated as a goofball who amounts to nothing, and still gets teased.
Davis' anger and reasons for wanting to quit the team and turn on the others is NOT unjustified.
He also has almost literally dozens of other girls who are interested in him but he very callously rejects them all because "They aren't Kari", making him look incredibly shallow.
Again... this fisherman has eyes for THAT ONE and THAT ONE ALONE. He has no wish for different fish.
Also, you're still over looking the fact that most of these girls just want to date him to boost their images (He's the Soccer Captain, well-reknowned Digi-Destined.) It is THEY who are Shallow... not Davis.
Also, and this is a personal note...
So, a guy needs to actually have a HAREM of girls to date, and he has to have sex with each and every one of them to be cool or sympathetic? Is THAT what you're going for? If so... that's as pathetic as the Spear Hero (Motoyasu)
One could even make the argument he's less sympathetic than the above-mentioned Beast Boy. At least with Beast Boy, you could argue that he's taking it badly because Terra wants nothing to do with himnote but Kari still wants to be Davis's friend even if they aren't a couple, making Davis look incredibly petty.
Nope, they are both nearly the same thing... Terra is worse than Kari period.
And while Kari still wants to be his "Friend" the people and I portray Kari exactly how we see her... SHE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO BE A FRIEND. She really only wants to keep him as her Lightning Rod, her toy to tease and abuse as much as she wants. She will never take him seriously, and never give him a chance for a date, even though she could be passing up a golden opportunity.
Kari is very selfish and bratty, not worthy of Davis' friendship when she acts like this.
Davis has every right to read her out like how Naofumi read out the other three heroes.
So don't tell me he's an unsympathetic loser, otherwise... you can Join Kari in her boat with the other Digi-losers.
