Death Metal And Ponies · 8:14pm Apr 30th, 2022
Some people love horror movies. Some people love horror novels. Some people like horror video games. I love horrific music.
I've never been a fan of gore, visually. I'm a bit squeamish. But when it comes to lyrics and song titles, I'm loving it. The sheer audacity and morbid creativity is what hooks me. I sort of have the same attitude to it that I write in Pinkie Pie. She knows that death metal is extreme to the point of absurdity, and that's what I love about it too. Paired with the most intense music you could fathom, it satisfies like nothing else. All those dark impulses getting put towards what amounts to parody.
There are some topics I veer away from, but when it comes to undiscerning brutality and the absolutely ridiculous imagery that comes along with it, I'm all for it. At the end of the day, I take it as seriously as Hellraiser or Stephen King novels or whatever abominable abortions you kids are playing these days.
And the ponies? Well, they've shown throughout the course of the show that the citizens and denizens and venisons (?) of Equestria are:
- Prone to stress
- Prone to (self-)destructive behavior (intentionally or otherwise)
- Prone to fandom and celebrity obsession
- Predisposed to musicality
- Able to play guitars despite the vast majority having hooves
- Aware of dark/demonic/evil imagery and some capitalize on such
- More badass than anyone gives them credit for
I think that all these points would eventually lead to the creation of an intense form of music like metal. Now, Hasbro canon? I would probably stop at power metal, talking about epic battles and what not. Party themed thrash perhaps. And maybe some black metal for the Nightmare Moon cultists. But getting into violence seems a bit beyond the scope.
But of course, this is FANFICTION WORLD! BRING ON THE PONY BLOOD!
