New Story: Sun and Stone (A Tale of Fallen Friends) Inspired by Mauroz

Hey, I'm back in a manner of speaking. And I released a new story called Sun and Stone (A Tale of Fallen Friends).

This oneshot actually itself has a slightly interesting story behind it, rather why I decided to make it.

A while back I found this artist/comic writer on Deviantart called Mauroz, odds are some of the people on this site have heard of him and his art work. It's pretty damn impressive, taking MLP characters and giving them an anime esque humanized look. In many respects it looks more like what I imagine people wanted/hoped Equestria Girls would be.

Anyway, his biggest claim to fame is his Equestria Girls comic, which takes the concept of humanized MLP characters and kicks it into overdrive. Put in simple terms imagine if you took the basic Equestria Girls concept, spliced it together with the general plot and transformations of Sailor Moon, the artifact hunting element of Cardcaptor Sakura, the darker edge, character drama and fantasy style combat of W.I.T.C.H. and sprinkled in a little Dragon Ball Z style fighting and humor and you'd get his comic.

So yeah it really is essentially Equestria Girls crossed with anime and as crazy as that sounds, the writing is actually quite solid overall and really feels like the Equestria Girls series we probably should've gotten in place of the original movies. Seriously you need to check it out.

Anyway back to my point, a while back he offered commissions for people and I managed to snag one to have him draw my OC Coalstone in his art style.

This image actually helped inspire my original story A Heart Encased in Stone and as his comic continued to be made I thought to myself about how Coalstone could fit into the world. That's something I tend to do, think up my own characters and try to fit them naturally into the story itself. Eventually I came up with a storyline that much like my story, tied Coals background to the Sunset of Mauroz's comic. In turn a few more images followed as a result.

Eventually I completed the full backstory more or less, atleast for how Coal related to Sunset in Mauroz's universe, which he revealed a little while back Sunset is acting as a sort of demon hunter, chasing after four Elemental Demons that resulted in her leaving the Equestria Girls Universe and entering the Mauroz Comic universe. One of the demons, the Demon of Earth apparently appeared in Sunset's world, bonded with someone and then fled to the Mauroz universe with Sunset chasing them and I think you can probably figure where I'm going with this.

So I requested this picture be made to depict an encounter between Sunset and Coal that would help paint in the gaps of the story up to this point in the comic, namely how things go to where they were and the possible conflicts that could arise from it. I planned to have atleast two more pictures made when he started doing commissions again to help play the rest of the story out, but I wanted to write this short one shot to help paint the details out further since I knew that we'd never see it in the comic as I imagine Mauroz has something else planned.

So yeah it's pretty much just a fun non-canon oneshot based on the comic with my OC included and I would like others to see it. Do I wish the story was canon to the comic, yes, but this is fine as well. Just want some feedback is all.
