Penalt's Reading Corner - March 28

Laughter.

Laughter is one of the five Elements of Harmony and one of the best virtues of Friendship. Laughter brings us up when we are down, and brings light to even the darkest of times. Humour comes in all forms. From slapstick to gallows, from rude and crude to puns that take days to get. Humour and the laughter it brings is part of all our lives.

And so it is with Fimfiction.

There are many great stories here. As Q put it, "it's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross..." and many of those treasures are humorous works that could put a smile on the frumpiest faces. One such story is:

A fun tale about what could have happened if Garble and not Ember had managed to win the Bloodstone Scepter. To quote from the story:

Dear Princess Celestia,

AAAAAAAAAAA! AAAAAAAAAAA! AAAAAAAAAAA! A TEENAGED DRAGON NAMED GARBLE WON THE GAUNTLET OF FIRE AND NOW HE HAS THE BLOODSTONE SCEPTER AND HE’S THE NEW DRAGON LORD! AAAAAAAAA! AAAAAAAAAA! AAAAAAAAAAA! AND HE’S GOING TO ATTACK EQUESTRIA WITH AN ARMY OF DRAGONS TOMORROW! AAAAAAAAAA! AAAAAAAAAA! AAAAAAAAAAAA!

Which gives you an idea of what the rest of the tale is like. It's fun, it's humorous, and keeps tongue firmly in cheek all the way to the end. Read it if you are in need of a laugh. I often do.

Yep, I remember that one! It's a great fic.

I'd like to do something a bit unusual and recommend back a fic that's been cancelled. But what already exists is, in my opinion, extremely funny.

The Demesne of the Reluctant Twilight Sparkle, by MrNumbers

Hopefully, MrNumbers needs little in the way of introduction. The premise is thus: Freshly returned Princess Luna is eternally grateful to Twilight Sparkle of ponyville, and upon the unicorn becoming an alicorn decides to reward her with everything her new station entitles her to, by ancient (and very carefully suppressed) law... much to Princess Celestia's immediate, and Twilight's gradually increasing, horror.
