Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! This is Mr. J back with more The Owl House content! Now that this show (alongside Amphibia) has returned with a new episode, I can now talk about what I honestly think of the episode overall and what really stood out to me the most. “Follies at the Coven Day Parade” was definitely the starting point of the upcoming emotional storm of heartbreak that shall come. For those of you who have not seen this episode yet, this will contain spoilers so please go watch the episode first before reading this blog post. Now, moving on from that:
Luz is still saddened over the thought of what her mother said to her last episode and isn’t really happy about it. She lies to her friends about the situation so they wouldn’t worry about it, but Amity soon realizes that she is not telling the truth and pieces together what actually occurred recently.
I thought they did a fantastic job in creating this conflict for Luz that will eventually play a large role in the climax of this series. I also liked that Amity is learning Spanish and is giving pet names for her girlfriend. That was just so cute and adorable.
Also, I did not expect Kikimora to actually have an episode dedicated to her in terms of her character and what she is once again longing for. It seems like Dana Terrace is finally giving her a character arch and an extra layer to her personality that makes sense. Of course, she’s still a deceptive little twerp at the end (I shouldn’t be surprised by that) but still, she isn’t as evil as Belos as it seems.
The most gut-wrenching subplot in this episode was how Raine has been wiped of their memories about their raid against Belos and only remembers their sour moments with Eda from years ago and their service to Belos. The fight they had together was really sad too because now it’s gonna be harder for Eda to convince Raine to remember what really happened and be together with them again. Poor Eda...
Overall, this episode was filled with surprises from start to finish. I give this an A-! Great voice acting from the cast and excellent writing as always, Dana! So far this second half of the season is looking good, and I look forward to the next episode for next Saturday. Stay tuned, owls and owlets!
Peace!
Same here Mr. J :3 I find it cute in my book as well. X3
