War In Ukraine: What Happened On The 13th Day? · 1:03am Mar 9th, 2022
..........This reminds me of the stories both my father and mother told me during the Vietnam War. A war that almost lasted for 20 years. When the war finally ended, and the US soldiers pullout of the country, They had little to no choice but to live their home country before the communist North Vietnamese took over the capital city of Saigon, nowadays known as Ho Chi Minh City. Because my father was an low ranked officer of the South Vietnamese Navy. While my mother was just a civilian from the northern countryside.
They left to the USA with my older brother back when he was just a small boy. Many years now, while my mother is able to return to Vietnam to visit her side of the family. My father can never return to his homeland. Because if he or his close friend ever did...they would've been arrested, changed, and trialed as war criminals. Where they either spend the rest of their remaining years in some North Vietnamese prison or worst...executed. Well...at least that's what he told me, when I was just five years old, back when we were out fishing on the lake somewhere in North Carolina many years ago. Which was one of the few times when he was actually at peace with himself.
He very rarely talked about his time serving in the war. He always tries not to remember it by deeply distracting himself in his work as a humble textile worker and later a tailor and dressmaker. When I asked him why he chose this job. He told me he just wanted to do something with his hands...other than killing people. My old man...did things he was never proud of doing during the war and he often had horrific nightmares about it from time to time. The very few things he told me about the war...was something I would never forget for as long as live on this earth.
Well........I think that's enough to be said here. The rest is just too personal...Hell, I rarely do this sort of thing let alone in a forum post. So sorry, friends.
