Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with more The Owl House content! This evening, I will be reviewing the seventeenth episode of the show entitled: “Wing it Like Witches”. This is honestly another one of my least favorite episodes of the season for personal reasons although I get what they were going for. This time, Willow is getting more popular at Hexside which results in Boscha being meaner and ruthless in her stalking and bullying. After Amity cuts ties with her for good and made amends with Willow, Boscha does everything she can to bring Willow, Luz, and Gus down. Therefore, Luz has Willow challenge her to a Grudgby game to resolve the issue once and for all.
I honestly don’t like this episode too much even though I do appreciate what they were trying to convey. What I find to be quite accurate is how they portrayed the teachers and authority figures at Hexside exactly like how most teachers and principals are in our schools in reality. They do nothing to stop the bullying and harassment and act like that’s no big deal. So I can somewhat see why Luz would persuade Willow to challenge Boscha in a Grudgby field.
If there was one thing I got out of this episode, it’s the lesson that your perseverance, nobility, and humility won’t go unnoticed. It was very satisfying to see Boscha’s friends show newfound respect for Willow after the game was finished while Boscha herself was left sulking in defeat. One way or another, karma got her hard.
On a side note, I really don’t see any redemption coming for Boscha considering just how far she went into antagonizing Willow and her friends in this episode. Some people are saying she might get reformed later in the show, but I personally don’t see that happening. Not by a long shot, folks! We already have Amity as an example of being a former bully to now a reformed character, so we don’t need another one. I’m heavily sure that this series won’t go the MLP or Steven Universe route.
Anyway, this episode is definitely decent for the terrific voice acting, the consistent animation, dialogue, and storyline, but the plot for this episode in particular wasn’t exactly the best per say. Just my personal, subjective opinion. I’ll give it a C+!
Getting close to the season finale, folks! Peace!
