Non-Pony Fanfic Reccomendations

Here's a short list of good fanfics that aren't MLP. Branch out a little, you might actually enjoy it.

Harry Potter:

- Author Summary: Two years after defeating Voldemort, Harry falls into an alternate dimension with his godfather. Together, they embark on a new life filled with drunken debauchery, thievery, and generally antagonizing all their old family, friends, and enemies.
- Comments: Probably the funniest thing I've ever read. Harry and Sirius find themselves in a brand new world, and their immediate reaction is to become absolutely insufferable shitheads and declare war on everything good and honest. It isn't some triumph of literature or anything, just an incredibly solid story about two horrible people who decide that common human decency is for suckers.

- Author Summary: Professor Sirius Black, Head of Slytherin house, is confused. Who are these two strangers found at Hogwarts, and why does one of them claim to be the son of Lily Lupin and that git James Potter? Dimension travel AU, no pairings so far. Dark humour.
- Comments: Despite what the description might imply, this isn't really a comedy. Harry, Hermione, Luna, and Neville are the last real resistance to Voldemort, and it shows. Each of them is held together by duct tape and spite, and everything about them horrifies the adults who, living in a functioning society, have never seen anyone this desperate before. The whole thing has this air of tragedy about it--Harry has to die to kill Voldemort, and he knows it, but the belief that his friends will get a happy ending, however mistaken that really is, keeps him going--but the last few chapters are almost hopeful.

- Author Summary: The Wizarding World is devastated when Harry Potter disappears from his relatives' house in mysterious circumstances during the summer after his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Desperate to have their boy-hero back no matter what they really should have heeded the Muggle saying "be careful what you wish for". Crossover HP/WH40K.
- Comments: Harry winds up in 40K and becomes an Inquisitor, Astartes improvements and all, and finds himself back in Britain after, from his point of view, a few hundred years. He's your typical ridiculous Warhammer character, and the humor comes from how everyone around him reacts to, well, the grim darkness of the far future. Read the sequels too, while you're at it--eventually the Emperor shows up.

Jamie Evans and Fate's Fool - https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8175132/1/Jamie-Evans-and-Fate-s-Fool
- Author Summary: Harry Potter stepped back in time with enough plans to deal with just about everything fate could throw at him. He forgot one problem: He's fate's chewtoy. Mentions of rape, sex, unholy vengeance, and venomous squirrels. Reposted after takedown!
- Comments: Harry decides to brave the space between spaces, and is shit into the body of his abused sister from another universe. Voldemort--and Dumbledore--get resolved pretty quickly, so he ... well, she spends most of the fic being a scarily competent teacher at Hogwarts. There's a wonderful and very creative fight scene near the end, and all the stuff with Tonks, her girlfriend, and Sally-Anne, her adopted daughter, is handled pretty well.

- Author Summary: Harriet Potter was twelve years old when she uncovered the child's skull buried in her Aunt Petunia's garden in a sick twist of fate. It was safe to say her life hadn't been the same since when, upon closer inspection, Severus Snape discovered the skull belonged to Harriet Potter, who had died at age two. Plots, purebloods, and prophecies abound in a world where, on a stroke of luck, a Potter isn't there to fight the good fight. Only a misplaced Malfoy who, really, never suited red and gold as much as she did silver and green.
- Comments: Both a fluffy family fic and a genuinely disturbing mystery. It isn't finished, and likely never will be, but what's there is very interesting.

Worm:

- Author Summary: A petty, self-obsessed teenager who is suspiciously similar to Greg Veder finds out that he is Greg Veder, circa 2010. Armed only with having read 2/3rds of Worm, absolutely no powers, and an extremely kidnappable puppy, Greg “Eric” Veder tries to survive in the face of the greatest foe Worm has to offer: the average teenage girl! Featuring special musical guest, the Simurgh.
- Comments: The rest of this guy's stuff is pretty funny too.

THE TECHNO QUEEN *krakathoom* - https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/the-techno-queen-iii.311201/
- Comments: Taylor alt-powers as an incredibly versatile and powerful tinker and decides to become a cheesy silver age villain, the sort who uses words like "dastardly" and builds a death-ray to turn all the chocolate in the city into broccoli. Pure crack.

Fallout:

Worse Than a Pair of Handcuffs - https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11624151/1/Worse-than-a-pair-of-Handcuffs
- Author Summary: Man meets angry robot meets sexy Deathclaw. AU (Older Work)
- Comments: Alt Fallout 4 fic, the protagonist was just a kid when the bombs dropped, and spent most of his adolescent years in the wasteland with only an insane Mr. Gutsy for company. He meets--and eventually romances--an intelligent Deathclaw on the run from the Enclave. Maybe a bit too long, but its pretty funny, and has good character stuff regardless.

Kancolle:

- Comments: Poor sod is self inserted as a shipgirl--namely a paper Midway-class carrier--and due to a complete and utter failure of communications, winds up for months behind enemy lines with no reinforcements, no resupply, and a massive army of Abyssals right on her doorstep. The survival stuff is interesting enough, but the reactions to this whole fiasco when the military realizes just how badly they fucked up make this probably my favorite story about magical boatgirl bullshit.
