Saw it in Wikipedia, there are a LOT of mysteries/plot loopholes about Ginny Weasley.
Specifically
1) She uses a Bat Bogey hex a number of times. Where/when did she learn it?
2) She's an excellent flyer & good enough at quidditch to later be a pro player. Her family was financially strapped. Where'd she get a broom to practice? Where'd she practice that her family didn't know?
3) Her sixth year, she helped lead resistance to V ruling Hogwarts. The resistance was captured & tortured -everyone but her. Why?
4) She was under the influence of V's diary horcrux for most of the school year & NOBODY noticed? OK, there weren't that many students at Hogwarts, she might not have had a roommate, or at least not one who knew her very well, but you'd think her family would have noticed. Ron's pretty thick but the twins were pretty sharp. (Also be interested in learning V's reaction to her menstrual cycle. It's possible she wasn't having it yet but 11-12 is pretty late for her not to be at least starting.)
My headcanon is that she was secretly dating an influential Slytherin, possibly Draco. (Although she could have picked up the spell from V.) His family being rich, he favored her with some gifts.
It's been a long time since I read the books, with a lot of fanfiction in that time potentially confusing me about what's canon vs. common fanon, but I think I recall 2 at least being answered in canon with her having snuck out at night to practice with the old family brooms. And 1 seems pretty easily answerable with "a book" or "Fred and George", though I don't recall if there was a canon answer.
3 and 4 I don't know about, though.
Regarding your hypothesis, from what I dimly recall of canon, I don't know whether that would explain 3, but wouldn't 1, 2, and 4 have been too early for that?
Well, I was thinking that she started dating him a bit later than when she was 12. Perhaps when Harry was dating Chang. She was mentioned as being very popular, which implies at least fairly good looking.
As to "she snuck out with the family broom." I've seen that & maybe before she got to Hogwarts but afterwards? She'd be at school & only be at home the same time as her brothers. The twins were on the quidditch team & Ron wanted to be, so when would she get the chance?
As to "got the spell from a book". Perhaps. If so, it was a book nobody else seems to have had.
