I guess Hearth's Warming came early for me.

Getting 1,000 followers was huge. It was enabling. It was an ego boost wave that I've been riding ever since. When I got 2,000 it was an affirmation of the genuine skill and talent that was belied by my outwardly arrogant façade. But by then, it felt like the fandom was already in decline; certainly Fimfiction traffic seemed so. If you had asked me then if I thought I would ever get to 3,000 I would have laughed. In fact I'm quite certain that I did laugh. I knew- I KNEW that there was no way I'd ever get to 3,000, like I was certain of it...

But here we are.

And I have never been so happy to be wrong.

Not because this is any achievement of mine. I mean, it is, but in the grand scheme of things, it's just a number. And I've stopped chasing after numerical validation a long time ago.

No.

The reason why this makes me so happy, and the reason I'm making this blog post, is because I was so certain that there wouldn't even be 1,000 new people on here to even follow me. But I'm so very, very happy to be wrong. I'm thrilled with the positive reception of Gen 5, and the resurgence of fiction exploding on here with the new world, setting and characters! So many new people joining the site. It gives me tremendous hope for the future. Not just for myself, of even the site, but the fandom at large!

I vowed that I'd be on this ride until the damn wheels fall off, and I'm a man of my word. I'm not going anywhere. But I'm so glad to see that the day that I might be the last violinist on the sinking ship, is much further away; Out of sight, beyond the horizon. And perchance, might not this rollercoaster track go right 'round the world, indefinitely?
