Welp, robotics - and telling people when I need stuff replaced - isn't my thing. · 6:07am Dec 5th, 2021

Part of my final for Computer Science through Robotics is to make a program where one uses variables, the ultrasonic sensor, and line-following sensor to get my robot through the maze.

2 problems;

1. I don't know how to make a variable. I feel like I'd need to watch an hour-long video on how to make one.
2. Even if I could, it turns out the ultrasonic sensor (which works like echolocation) isn't working. My dad spent most of the day trying to get it to work, and it's just not responding to anything put in its path.

Addendum to problem 2; I knew this was a problem for well over a week or two now, and I either didn't say anything, or else didn't push when I did. Either way, I'm stuck with a bot that's (ultrasonically) blind.

My dad did manage to successfully* replace the ultrasonic sensor with a remote control that came with the robot kit, but the instructions do not say anything about remote control.

Not asking for pity; this was largely my fault (though I suspect that one of my younger siblings set up magnets near the robot while I wasn't using it or otherwise may have damaged the sensor). And, since the project is due on the 6th and my final exam for the class (for which the project counts 25% of the final exam grade) is on the 7th.

*Successfully as in, the remote control worked, but the program him and me put together and tested it with did not.

I do have somewhat of a story in the works (though I haven't worked on it for a while and my drive to work on it has been extremely limited) based on some of the epic fails of robot programming I'd initially experienced.

Oh the joys of programming robots. Both loved an absolutely loathed programming in FLL and FTC leagues years ago.
