    I Live!

But I’m on a buttload of drugs and am going to pass out.

Surgery went great, even better than expected. I’ll elaborate more later.

    Until next time!

Would You Consider a Santa Hat 2021 · 5:02am Dec 1st, 2021

Heya, Folks!

Now that December has officially started (on the East coast US), I can finally put up this blog. I have to admit, I always look forward to posting it around November every year, but I’m a big proponent of not starting to celebrate Christmas in the US until after Thanksgiving. Well, that holiday has passed, December is here, and I can stop cringing when I hear Christmas songs being played everywhere (Y’know, I never hear Hanukkah songs…). So with the Christmas spirit finally flowing through my veins, it’s that time again.

For any newbies that may be around, (or those of you that just didn’t know for some reason), there’s a tradition around FimFiction that, while not everyone follows it, quite a few of us do. Way back when, The Descendant started a trend where every year around the beginning of December, users would put a Santa hat on their avatars through the holiday season, then see how many other users randomly pop up with Santa hats on theirs.

The way to do it is pretty easy. You just need a program like Microsoft Paint (I used to use Drawings in Google Drive) and a Santa hat .gif or .png. You can find quite a few here, or you can google search for others. (I just so happened to get a set of avatars as a commission from Pridark a while ago, so I have a custom one :twilightsheepish:)

The Descendant isn't currently active on the site—sadly, he seems to have left us for good—but many of us still carry on his tradition. It would be great to see how many people will keep it up, so come join us and don a hat yourself! And if you feel so inclined, post about the tradition also!

And don't forget— have FUN!

This reminds me of that santa hat parasite, quite sure ya saw it before, would be funny if ya ended the blog with one of those images in a similar style as admiral buiscuit does

Have festive Bill, will change.

Oh, is it indeed that time again? Thanks for the blog post! I knew it was somewhere around here but wasn't sure when, so in addition to generally helping to keep the tradition alive, it was a useful reminder for me. :)

"Y’know, I never hear Hanukkah songs…"
I mean, admittedly speaking as neither a Jew nor a Christian, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing for Hanukkah, given how little the commonly-played "Christmas" songs have to do with the actual religious holiday. I'm not averse to there being a secular winter holiday season (though it might be nice if it didn't focus so much on consumerism), nor to it coinciding with multiple different religious holidays/holiday seasons, but, again admittedly speaking as an outsider, I get the impression that conflating the de facto secular holiday with the Christian one causes problems for both. As far as I'm aware, Hanukkah has less of that to deal with.

Yeah, I feel ya. I mean, even though I was raised Methodist (and even played Judas in the church's production of Godspell when I was still actually going to church, however rare that was), I really consider myself an Agnostic.
You're right, the 'Christmas' songs that I tend to hear aren't really of the truly religious variety, it's mostly Rudolph, Santa, Winter, or being together for the holidays. Hearing anything about Jesus is a rarity (badum tss). It's always been the principle of starting to celebrate the winter holidays before Thanksgiving is over that irks me. But now it's December, so let the sleigh bells ring! :yay:

Well, happy Winter Holiday Season, then. :)

There's no alt for my profile, so I just threw it in MS Paint and made a hat.

Hey, whatever works.

Thank you for the reminder! Just post my Santa hat avatar picture. Happy Holidays!!:raritywink:

Had I known I would have totally done this. Heck might do it anyways even if it's technically past.

It's never too late while it's still December!
