shitposting is harder than people think
In fact, I've just spent the last four hours brainstorming on various ends, looking for cover art that could inspire me, or reading dozens of episode transcripts to see which I could twist to write out a funny comedy.
Guess what? I've got nothing but three half-formed ideas. Two break my comedy rules, and the third doesn't even have enough basis to hit a thousand words.
I might have a decent sense of humor, but it doesn't mean that these "one thousand word" comedies are easy to write. Sure, I could write out something half-baked, but it wouldn't be the quality shitpost I want to give people to enjoy.
Now my spotify is playing "Attention". I dunno why I'm bringing that up.
But seriously, though, I want to put this out there. Random shitposts are easy.
Quality ones are not. I like to think most of my shitposts are quality(with the exception of "Fluttershy Learns to Read and Becomes an Alicorn", because that one was just complete nonsense), and I pride myself on making the effort to write out a comedy worthy of making people laugh.
Another thing; a few people have commented to me before they think I shitpost only for the likes and views.
I do not. Let me make this clear right now, I don't really care if I get popular, featured, or whatever. All that matters to me is that I make someone laugh. One person is enough. The fact that I sometimes get hundreds of people to laugh is just better, because the more the merrier. You're not obligated to press like on the story. All I want is to bring more joy to the world. The world's dark enough. Let me be the candle that lights more candles.
One day, my candle will burn out. But I sincerely hope that by making people laugh, they'll help to cheer others up. If you've read my comedies, I hope you can take some of their energy with you. If you see someone in a bad spot, use that energy to cheer them up. As Pinkie Pie once said
You gotta stand up tall and learn to face your fears. You'll see that they can't hurt you. Just laugh to make them disappear.
Look, I know this is weird. That we're all watching a cartoon horse show. But we can still take lessons from it.
Gosh, this was supposed to be on the matter of my shitposts. I wasn't supposed to get this philosophical.
I do hope I made you guys laugh. It would mean the world to me.
No matter who you are, whatever you are doing, wherever you are, you deserve a laugh. Smile, look at the sun, or the moon, whichever, and dream of a happy day. Your thoughts, your dreams, your heart, your mind. These are the things no one else can take from you.
if you've made it this far, thank you for reading. Do smile!
You're welcome, and I know how hard it is to write 1000 word comedies.
Oh your stories sure did make ME laugh! I wonder which one is my favorite? I dunno. I guess there all very well written. Especially the "Twilight blowing everything up" series.
If you show kindness to someone else
That I'm sure you will find
Not only are they happy
but you'll have the peace of mind
It's kinda strange it works that way
but sure enough it will
For while your helping others
The lord your cup will fill
To help some folks by doing stuff
Is never out of style
And if you want to do it right
You'll do it with a smile
If someone is a problem
That you work with day by day
It could be if you'd smile at them
Some good might come your way
Comedy is the hardest thing to write for very good reason! It's easy to HURR BLURR SHE WEPT TEARS OF BLOOD BECAUSE EVERYTHING WAS TERRIBLE, but to make someone laugh with the written word alone is very difficult! My own sense of humor trends along the 'goofy voice and tone shifts' type of humor, so it can be hard to translate to the written word! Bravo to you for mastering the art of the shitpost!
