Kriegspiel Redux

Hi all, I come to you with an explanation and an apology.

As I've mentioned before, I am something of an uber-perfectionist. And I am also very harsh on myself. I often go over my own work and critique things that I feel I could've done better, with the hopes of learning from my mistakes.

Ponyville Noire is my magnum opus, and I want to consistently give you my best. And when I see something that I know I could've done better on, it bothers me a lot.

For a long time, one particularly large thorn in my side was in Kriegspiel, specifically Case Ten, Chapters Eight and Nine. I am not good at large action sequences, and those two chapters underwent a lot of rewrites before I published them. And for a long time after, I've always felt deeply dissatisfied with them; I never liked that warehouse action sequence, seeing it as meandering and clunky, and I always wished I could do better on that.

Well, now I can. And I have.

I spent a good portion of last week completely redoing both of those chapters to a smaller, simpler action sequence with much crisper choreography and a better buildup, and I am much happier with the result. I know that there are probably plenty of you who liked the originals, but I wanted to do this just to see if I could take something I wasn't happy with and turn it around.
