No Chapter This Week, So Ask My Characters (Almost) Anything! · 12:53am Nov 10th, 2021
Sorry! No chapter this week. Life has been busy on top of Chapter 11 being a battle to write without falling into a plothole. There were soooo many opportunities with all the characters present to mess something up royally. I had to be sure I got it right in the writing.
So, as a way to show my appreciation to you guys, please ask my characters anything you want to know! And I do mean anyone. Got a question for Steeplechase? Go for it. How about Ahuizotl? He’ll be more than happy to yell at you. Want to ask Upper Crust something? She might be harder to get to talk...
I’m not expecting a huge response for this, so as long as the question is safe to answer, I’ll probably be able to do it in-character and post it in a blog post in the future. Just comment down below and I’ll do my best to get their responses to you.
On a more serious note, apologies for those of you hoping for a new chapter this week, but unfortunately, after getting 11 out late, I haven’t had time in my real life to write. It’s been a crazy past five days of trying to get things all lined up properly for a myriad of Japan living concerns, all culminating in me failing my second attempt at the Japanese driver’s test. Let’s just say the practical driving portion doesn’t feel very practical. It feels more like Drive Drive Revolution with everything needing to be in time or rhythm for them to pass me. I’ll be going back to driver’s school so someone can coach me on when I need to do the things so I can get Perfects rather than Bad or Miss. So irritating when I look around me and I am the only person following the damn speed limit on the way to work.
Okay, but you don’t want excuses, you want pony words! How is chapter 12 going? Well, I restarted it this morning again after I wrote about 4 pages and decided the information might work better elsewhere. After 11 was such a word-slayer, I am feeling a bit more gun shy around the words that I’m writing. I have this thing I have set up, and I can do the payoff in one of two perspectives. I find when I write something Vinyl experiences first-hoof, the reveal for it may be better experienced through Fancy Pants or vice-versa. At the moment, I am sitting in the middle of a road and I’ve got two paths I can go down. I’ll probably wind up walking both and see which one works better for Chapter 12, which is going to take a while since it will be at least 2K words in either direction before I make up my mind.
The key is this: I don’t need to go into more detail regarding what 12 is covering, but it might be valuable to spend the time going through the details just for the reaction. I just won’t know until I try both out.
I am aiming for next week on Chapter 12. My week isn’t looking that dense and in two weeks, I’ll be at the school that keeps me far less busy all week so I can probably get caught up in-between classes. It just depends.
