Urban Wilds art commission (Content warning: blood)

A while ago, I commissioned Moonatik for some Urban Wilds art, and I think it turned out great. But fair warning: it's pretty bloody, taking place shortly after Amanita kills her two attackers, so only open this post if you're okay with that. (I checked the site's rules, and it fits in the postable "borderline" category".) Got that? Good.

    New Hinterlands sequel

I've been working on another sequel to Hinterlands for over a year, and it's finally ready to be published! Check out the continuing adventures of our hapless necromancer and her bounty hunter friend in the great white north:

    TDeath Valley
Hostile lands. Frigid valleys. Backwater villages. Shadowy forests. Vicious beasts. Gloomy mines. Strange magics. And the nicest pony for miles is a necromancer. A royal investigation of tainted ley lines uncovers dark secrets in the Frozen North.

Barcast: Last Call, Last Mini-rounds, I'm on Tap

As you may have heard, the Barcast interview group is sadly closing its doors. But before they do, they're having one last stream: a series of rapid-fire five-minute interviews this Saturday with as many people as they can manage. And guess who decided to sign up?

    Hinterlands / Urban Wilds fanart

Recently, Moonatik decided that Hinterlands and Urban Wilds were somehow good enough to merit fanart and drew a picture of Bitterroot and Amanita. I think it's neat!

Moondog Fanart · 4:17pm Nov 3rd, 2021

Moondog got fanart.

I know! I'm surprised, too! I've never gotten fanart before, but I guess you can share it if you think it's nifty? 'Cause it's nifty. It's of the moment where Moondog first takes up her crown. Art by StainedGlassLightHeart, commissioned by Level Dasher.

It's neat. Thanks to both of them!

Beautiful. Doesn't quite catch that, "hole in space" quality, but it's not a bad interpretation.

I don't think there's an accurate way to get "a hole in space" unless you make her invisible with a vague outline of whisps for a shape. Even for this interpretation, she's still very other-worldly with how she's just a child's drawing of an alicorn.

Actually thanks for replying to that message. It made me look at it again, (as i like to do with great art) and notice her hooves and regalia. They have that deep blackness, not just dark, but deep. I think that perfectly embodies how to capture a non-corporeal being. She couldn't be all deep blackness, otherwise she's just a black mark with no depth.

I think Rambling Writer's own art captured the "hole in space" thing well by using very thick outlines and having no shading implying 3D shape.
(Rambling Writer's own art is used as the cover art for this and all previous stories in this series.)

Especially in an animated medium, could use an effect similar to Unmoving Plaid to pull it off, perhaps?

Awwe it's adorable! Moondog has got to be my favorite OC from a fanfic, they're too cute!

What about Sun Ra?

fuck I forgot how addictive TV Tropes is. Curse you!
