Greetings to you all and welcome to another Disney Friday! I present to you all my take on Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove for this wonderful evening! Now, this film was one of my favorite Disney movies of all time and one of those Disney movies that both I, my mother, and my sister all enjoyed years ago. This film brought a lot of laughter and joy out of us, and it became one of the most memorable things from my childhood. To be honest, this is probably the funniest classic Disney movie to this date and I have no regrets saying that. I mean it when I say that it deserves more attention than it already does.

The Emperor’s New Groove is about a young ruler who was stuck-up, self-absorbed, and sassy and had everything he wanted as emperor. A scheming old lady plots to assassinate him and take over the empire for herself. However, the plan goes unexpected as the so-called deadly potion turned out to be a llama potion... turning him into that exact animal. Thus, Kuzco has to find a way to turn back into a human and defeat his betrayers before more things go awry.

The voice acting was superb in this film. First off, I really enjoyed the vocal performance of David Spade as Kuzco as he gave that nonchalant, sassy, cocky tone in his voice for the character. Every time I would mention his name or talk about him, my mom would playfully roll her eyes or just shake her head because of how annoying he was to her. He always made us laugh with his well-timed jokes and his sense of humor. I also enjoyed John Goodman’s vocal performance as Pacha. He is actually my fourth favorite character in this film mainly because of Goodman. Is there any other reason to like his character?

But my second most favorite character is Kronk himself. This was the first film that introduced me to Patrick Warburton’s voice acting. Ever since I watched this film, his voice and character were forever seared in my memory so that every time I would hear his voice in any other animated film or show I would ask, “Hey, is that Kronk voicing this guy?” That’s how impactful Kronk was as a character to me. Additionally, he was both sympathetic, hilarious, and entertaining as a character.

I also loved Yzma in this film. She is one of the most hilarious Disney villains I’ve ever seen. She was not only funny but also enjoyable as a character. Even though she really isn’t intimidating whatsoever, she was still impressive in terms of her genius and her personality. My favorite lines from her would be, “Pull the level, Kronk. WRONG LEVER!!” “What?! A llama?! HE’S SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD!!” Oh goodness, I truly miss Eartha Kitt’s splendid voice acting. May she rest in peace.

The animation was well-done, all the characters were amazing, the humor was spot-on, the story was straight forward and easy enough to follow along, and the soundtrack is legendary in my opinion. Props to Mark Dindal for directing this beautiful Disney movie and also to Chris Williams and David Reynolds for co-writing this movie.

I especially loved the character development in all this. Kuzco had to realize just how selfish and uncaring he was and to experience being one of the lowest animals to know how it feels to be lonely, despised, and highly vulnerable especially in face of predators. The interaction between him and Pacha was well-written as we see both individuals learning how to get along and be friends. Ha, that was quite a long process, huh? It’s all about the Magic of Friendship—okay, I’ll stop right there.

Overall, I still love The Emperor’s New Groove for being such a hilarious, inspiring, and interesting film even for Disney standards. I give this a solid 10/10.

Peace!

Kronk. Hehe.

"The Emperor's New Groove" has also been a favorite of mine growing up.

One of my all-time favorite parts of this movie was the character development Kuzco had, because it not only signified one of the most transformational growths in Disney history but helped me to enjoy his presence more everyday.

Ah, this movie was great as a kid, especially because of Kronk. I feel that I know his actor from elsewhere, but I can't remember from where

Ah, this movie. One word: hilarious. I rewatched it last year with my sister and we were laughing outloud :rainbowlaugh:

Love this more, the tv series and Kronk
