    Still working on Midnight Rising...

At the rate of about 800-1000 words a day. That’s my key to getting stuff done that’s causing you issues; just be sure you put at least a little time in on it this day to have some forward momentum. The two chapters are now up to 24,100 words. I’ll work on it more this weekend, at least around continuing work around the maps and battle graphics I’m making for Feathered Hearts.

Did two things this past weekend...

First, I ran 10k for the first time in two months after laying off that long to let my ankle bursitis subside, trying to allow the area to generally heal up. It appears that it worked. To my delight, there was no ankle pain after and I hadn’t even lost much stamina thanks to hitting an elliptical machine twice a week for an hour instead of jogging. My upper legs are another matter, though.

C&C chapter 40 entering prereads tonight + teaser

Much as I didn’t want to, I made the decision to break it up since the full length of the War Council meeting had exceeded 20,000 words and will probably approach 25k for the now-two chapters before all is said and done. The breakpoint itself will be between learning about the general war situation both Aricia and the Griffon Kingdom face, and then discussing what in all the Crows they’re going

Midnight Rising/C&C update: April showers may bring May flowers...

But of more interest is the emergence of 17-year cicadas in my area. Big, ugly, red-eyed insects that are the size of your thumb but basically harmless, as long as you can get past all the shed skins they leave behind on leaves and the everpresent and disconcertly loud background sound they produce as a mating call. Fortunately, the outbreak in my area seems pretty limited. There's a few around,

Midnight Rising update; Feathered Hearts C&C teaser...

Hey, folks. Here’s my weekly writing update. I’m tagging this as C&C since that’s what the teaser below is about, but the blog is about both it and Unleash the Magic - Midnight Rising.

It appears I poked a hornet's nest... · 5:54pm Oct 10th, 2021

In the previous blog post. So be it. All I ask is that folks keep it civil and refrain from personal abuse.

To that end, I invite you to check the exchanges in the comments between Eroraf086 and Ghost-091 for excellent examples of reasoned debate between two people who disagree, even on difficult or otherwise emotionally charged issues. Thanks for showing how it’s done, guys. In an era of trolling and personal attacks, it’s very refreshing to see!

I’ll refrain from replying to the many comments for now only because I’ve got other things to do, not the least of which is getting a new Midnight Rising chapter ready for launch. I’m simply awaiting prereads at this point, though I also need to get my customary two editing passes done. Best guess is, I’ll publish it tomorrow morning or evening, depending on how quickly the prereads come in.

As it turns out, the Sour Sweet chapter will be extended into two, with the first chapter going well over 8000 words as it incorporates a science lesson and turns a very unlikely celestial object into an outright sex toy. Think of the science lesson part of it like the PSAs of old you saw on 80s cartoons, except the topics are considerably more adult than the average He-Man or GI Joe episode!

Cheers, folks. No matter what happens with my job, I’m still here and still writing. The plan is that I move to working on Nightmare Night for the first time in a year after this, and will aim to have at least two chapters of it ready in time for the story’s four-year anniversary on Halloween. Thanks for your patience and indulgence, as always.

Cool. Can't wait.

I'm looking forward to it and I hope you succeed sine writing two chapter is three weeks isn't easy.

I'm relieved to have it back. Feral clopfiction is where my heart will forever be and NMN has a ton of killer scenes. Your biggest challenge is somehow managing to top the last chapter you posted.
