Tagged The Blind Sun due to most readers of the series being more familiar with that than Dirtmouth Manor Misadventures.
Long story short, Had a couple of ignorant folks and possibly a troll be insensitive pricks when I posted a meme over on reddit (that Demiromantic Grimm one), got upset over it for a couple of days and I've bounced back from it and trying to work on Dirtmouth Manor Misadventures.
Except I'm starting to feel the signs of burnout, I've hit a big ol' wall of writer's block and I'm starting to dread working on the fic since it involves themes similar to the meme I posted, what with me wanting to incorporate aro and ace stuff into the series here and there. Feels kind of silly? awkward? What happened with the few people being dickbags over on reddit has sort of put me in a mindset where attributing certain headcanons to characters and then sharing that is... not the best thing to do...
Logically I know it's fine, but the uncertainty is still there, especially given that it's something so personal to me. Hell, I still feel kind of awkward just wanting to incorporate obvious signs of demisexuality and demiromanticism into my OCs for crying out loud.
The duality of "I want this stuff to be more widely known and understood" alongside "No one cares, I shouldn't bother, people won't understand"
I still want to write Hollow Knight stuff though, I adore the game and there's so much potential for storytelling given the ambiguity of some parts of canon and I want to get more the Mothling Au done as i do have plans for further down the line. It's just that right now I need to take a step back, take a break and focus on other things before I lose my passion entirely.
Maybe in a month or two, once I've had a chance to properly get my confidence back, I'll get back into planning, brainstorming, and working on the series. I am not abandoning the series or anything, I just need time to get into a better headspace to continue the series.
