I am somewhat reluctant to blog here. I have only done it once and then deleted it, and I am aware that this fandom has never been a paradise. Some bronies are quite capable of being cruel. But I simply want to make a statement.

I'm not like most bronies. I'm old. I am surely at least a candidate for oldest brony. I've been a cartoonaholic my entire life, and I've watched cartoons for almost sixty years. Cartoon characters have always been my friends (since I've never had many real ones). But "Friendship is Magic" was one of a kind. I have never been so attached, or felt such actual love for fictional characters before (yes, I'm pathetic). I was bawling my eyes out one whole year before the series ended, and I took the end of the show very hard. It was like all my friends had just died.

I want to make it clear that offer no criticism for those of you who love the new generation. If you do, then good. May you enjoy it for many happy years. But as for me, FiM was a phenomenon quite apart from all other generations of MLP (which I never got into). Now that the movie is out and the series on the way, I once again feel depressed that our beloved ponies of generation four may disappear. I have a bit of a fear of losing them all over again.

As I said, if you enjoy the new generation, great. But "speaking only for myself," I have no plans to watch the movie or the new series. The new characters are not the very special characters that our FiM characters were. I am so grateful that there are so many fictions on this site which for eleven years have been based on season four. Reading fics about them has been and will remain my primary online activity.

I simply feel compelled to state that personally, I am now and shall always remain a loyal and faithful subject of Princess Twilight Sparkle. I will never forget her or her friends.

I have never in my cartoon-loving reclusive life so wished for fictional characters to be real.

Thank you for hearing me out.

Good night.

I'm waiting to see what G5 does with G4 continuity (or not).

The G5 movie was actually pretty good - better writing than the G4 movie, anyway, and at least so far it hints that it'll keep continuity going from G4. Lots of unknowns at this point, though, naturally.

I don't think I could ever feel as if I lost them. They've changed me and most of the people I know in ways that can never be erased. Because of this, they live forever and they're always with us in the ways that matter.

The new movie wasn't bad. It wasn't great, but it wasn't an unholy dumpsterfire that spat on everything of the previous generation.

This site is perfect for you, I have it bookmarked. We will never lose our pony friends as long as we have access to them. Hell I have the G1 episodes bookmarked too since I grew up with them.
