Ouroboros: The Dream Eater
prolugue:
"They feared to see my time come."

Twilights brow, heavy with rule and age, let her crow slip off to the ground.

"my freinds. am glad to see you all here." but there was no-one to recive the words.

twilight strolled from the ruined castle hall to ruind court yard.

"it is good to have freinds in times such as these." nothing but the rent sky heared her. the stars shown, even as the sun blazed over head; and the heat, was as the very pit.

"freindship is the magic that keeps my kingdom alive." she laghed like a mad mare. but the bone didn't find it so humerouis.

from the ruined court yard, up, UP! to the highest balcony that over looked the plains blow the mountain castle.

"we love thee all! loyest equstrians!" she shout, to the empty fileds, destroed villages, crumbling city, baren forrest, and dry seas.

"twilight, it's very sad to see you here, like this. altho you always were a little loose in the brain," said discord," but, i spose this par for the course for you, and the last millenia. you are a mare of habbit, twilight."

Twilihgt was shocked," discord! i haven't see you since Fluttershy--- no... wait thats not right. she... she was just here. with everpony else!"

"ah! a final moment of clarady before the end. at least I will have some to talk my non-sence to."

"Discord, there all gone. Celestia, spike, applejack, rarity, rainbow, pinkie, flutt---"

"shhh," discord interupted put his finger to her lips,"yes, yes. dust in the etheral winds. now. what should we do in are final days? through a tea party? through a galla? journey to the center of the univeres? will have so much to talk about after all this time!"

"discord... the what...what will we do?"

"well anything you like, it's the end of this univeres and we are the only two beings left in it."

great tears sprung to twilights eyes. she wept, and wept for what seemed like hours.

"you know, i come all this way to spend the last days with you, and all you do is crie! is my smell?" he snapped a can of deoderent into existent and sprayed it on.

"discord we have to fixe it!"

"fix 'IT?' twilight there is nothing to be fixed. everything is working as time inteneded it to."

"we could go back! back in time! to when it all bagine and we...we could..." nothing came to her."oh if takes a million i'll find a way to bring them all back. to bring everything back!"

"well, twilight, we don't have a million years. it looks like we don't have another minute." he pointed into the heavans above.

there is no way to decrive the absence of existence. you can't rap your pony mind around it. no color fill it, for black or white are something you can see and expirence. it spans no distence, becaouse if it did you could messer it. no, you will never understand, even if you where there.

"ah 'they feared to see my time come' quote he! who would have geussed that the 'they' were you and I!"

"is...this how it ends... all of progress of our kind... all of are freindships... ends in nothing..." she let down her head.

"oh! yes twilight! this is how it ends! and... how it will begin!"

she lifted up her head,"what?"

"Twlight, twilight, twilght... there are no end as such, but rather the world will be anew." this didn't comfort twilight, for what could be called comfort was quickly leaving existenct.

"how many times has this happend, the world starting over."

"oh, i'd say at least an infint amont of times..."

"...oh."

"we've been here before, I'm shoure, of that! oh well, we'll probobly meet agian... in the new begining..."

"discord"

"yes?"

"What happens next?"

So in the beginning I intended this to be the start of a much longer story; What was it about? Well that's why it's a standalone fic now.

Well not that I didn't have any plans.

1) The story had to be an AU, and 2) it had to be long( a never ending story even.)

I always liked the idea of a nice long work that goes on and on, I don't know why, but this was to be my Diaries of a Madman( in terms of length), but that didn't pan out.

The wind whistled through the empty spaces whitch were many. the hot sun beat down on all the plains of the Equestria, and it cast an endless sunset of red. though, a curiouse sight that through the diming glare all the heavenly body could be seen in the crimson sky.

there was the moon, broken in twain; there where the stars, burning out; there was the univeres, dieing in agony.

not that anyone in equestria bothered to look up at the last lights of existence. what with everycreature being turnned to bone and dust, its not as if they where very had anything ealse to do. not even Twilight noticed.

she could have been a little more thoughtful, being the only moving thing on the planet. where the same old relecs really that important? where the same old tiered castle wall really much more intresting the new end of the old world?

No, maybe it wasn't that. maybe it was because her mind had slipped after thousands of years of being alone.

Twilights crown fell from off her brow and layed there weirrly from thusands of years of rule. teired from the long stay on her head it graciously stayed there, resting in the dust.

the ruler step over her crown headless that it had even fallin. walking the way she'd walked for millennias. nothing seemed changed to her eyes. it was always the warm light of a Summer Sun Celibration, to her. she would walking to garden greet the new flowers, where only dust is.
