Bit of a sour update… · 2:56pm Sep 23rd, 2021
Hello, everyone. I just wanted to make this post to get something off of my chest. Something that I feel will bring a great deal of disappointment to you all. But please understand the reasons why I took this story down and why I felt this way.
A few years back, I wrote a Yo-Kai Watch crossover titled “The Princess and the Yo-Kai.” As a story, it had a basic premise. Princess Twilight finds the Crank-a-Kai from Yo-Kai Watch in the Everfree Forest, cranks it, and finds Whisper and Jibanyan, that kinda deal. The story went on from there with my trying to write Yo-Kai into practically each chapter, as well as create a larger story beyond that. It had well over 200K words as well—just goes to show all the time and effort that I put into it.
But… as time went on, I realise that I wrote it more as a spur-of-the-moment thing because of my love for Yo-Kai Watch at the time. Don’t get me wrong, it is a fantastic series of games and by every sense of the imagination, I recommend that you check it out. But when it came to being a crossover fanfiction, I realised that I was being far too ambitious with what should have been a small story on a fanfiction website. It didn’t help that I wrote it around the time that Yo-Kai Watch 2 had been released, and we’re now up to Yo-Kai Watch 4 in Japan, with Yo-Kai aplenty and with no sign of stopping. It was that kind of continuously-building world that made me realise “there’s no chance in hell I can write about all the hundreds of Yo-Kai and give them all proper justice; especially when there’s both a TV series, movies, and games that have much better fleshing out and representation than I ever could.
It also didn’t help that, with my lack of motivation in general, what with the state of affairs the world’s in right now, coupled with me focusing more on other fanfictions with other series that made me shy away more and more from this project. Which, part of that is on me. I moved to A03 as a way to expand my love of writing beyond FIM and any potential crossovers with it. FIMFiction is where I got my start in writing, and some of my best moments in writing have come from this site, don’t get me wrong. But as a whole, if I stay grounded in one spot for my whole life, then I limit my creativity and myself as a writer. And that’s no fun at all; hence why I started writing Miraculous Ladybug, RWBY, and even Precure stories on A03 instead.
All that—coupled with one person who kept on bugging and bugging me to make more chapters, apologising publicly on one of my A03 stories when he should have taken the hint that I wasn’t interested in talking to him—drove me to, with a heavy heart, DELETE The Princess and the Yo-Kai from FIMFiction.
I know it’s sad; me killing the story like this, but in all honesty, I could not see any future in it. My love for Yo-Kai Watch has dimmed thanks to the other franchises that I’ve seen and written for. It is what it is. You lose passion in something and you can’t rekindle that flame, it’s only fair that you get rid of it before it causes you anymore discomfort, worry, or sadness. Maybe in another world, I could have finished the story; then everyone could have been happy and loved it, but… in truth, I just couldn’t. That’s the sad truth.

Understood man. While I may miss some parts of the story(Like Twilight being stuck in Sgt. Burly's fitness excercise-the extended version of that song was a nice touch.), I understand the decision.
