Midnight Rising next... · 4:05pm Sep 20th, 2021
As my surgery pain fades, my libido surges, so it’s time for me to keep a promise and return to the Unleash the Magic series in the leadup to Halloween anniversary of Nightmare Night. And that means, both it and Midnight Rising are going to be worked on almost exclusively over the next several weeks.
We’ll start with the latter. The good news there is, I already had a large chunk of the next chapter written. So I’ve got plenty to go off of, and the new chapter is already over 4k words and rising quickly. We’ll open where we left off with of our favorite dragon tsundere surrendering to Pinkie Pie and being suitably rewarded, followed by attention shifting back to CHS where Midnight selects her latest lucky victim for punishment—Upper Crust. I barely mentioned her in the original, giving her just a brief scene, but it’s going to be far bigger and more involved here, needing a full chapter to describe.
Without giving away too much, it’s time to introduce yet another race and fetish or two into the action! And I’m probably at some point going to take a commenter’s suggestion, doing a little retconning to the dragon females to give them some variety in terms of shape—some more serpentine, some more feral, but all immensely enjoying their new mammaries. And don’t worry; they’ll crossover to the CHS side of things eventually. When they do, I have a very interesting scene between Ember and Sunset in mind when they finally recognize each other, as they met once before about five years earlier when Sunset was still a pony and Celly’s student.
In all honesty, I feel a bit guilty about leaving Feathered Hearts behind at just the point it’s screaming for another M-rated side story chapter—non-anthro griffon/human clop is such a neglected niche on Fimfiction!—but a promise is a promise, and I’ve been away from Unleash the Magic for way too long. There will, however, be a bit of a callout to the Feathered Hearts story and verse as a new portal will shortly open into the Gryphon Kingdom’s Hall of Heroes, which figured prominently in earlier FH chapters.
Oh, the things myself and Midnight are planning for that place later, both in Midnight Rising and later in Nightmare Night! *rubs paws together gleefully and evilly*. I won’t neglect Gilda, either, as I’ve got a lot more I can do with her now given what I know of her character. She and human Rainbow are going to have it out properly here. Yes, I already wrote the first part of a bonus sequence with her for the original edition, but I’m probably going to go back and substantially redo it, just like the rest of the story.
But all that comes in due course. With as much as I already have written, you can likely expect this new Midnight Rising chapter to be released on or before the weekend. I’ll give at least one more update before then. And after? I’ll probably continue with Midnight Rising for at least one more chapter before switching over to writing Nightmare Night for the entirety of October. Hopefully fans of both stories will be satisfied that way.
I'm certainly looking forward to reading those new chapters. I like both stories but I prefer Nightmare Night over Midnight Rising but they'll both be updated so I'm fine.
Awesome! Can't wait to read it.
Wonder which one. We had all types of ponies, griffins, changelings, dragons, hippogriff IIRC. So what's left is, Yaks, Diamond dogs, Kirins, maybe Abyssinians and Parrot folks. Have Zebras appeared, yet?
Best pony and Best (female) dragon in one scene? Double Awesome!

You should have it by the weekend!
No, but they’re coming. Yes, one of the others you listed is featured, but I’ll say up front that you won’t ever be seeing the Yaks because I am absolutely no fan of them. All the others I’ve used or mentioned in my stories; for the record, I consider the Parrot folks to be Harpies.
Yep! I’d love to see the pair meet again after this, too. I could see Ember crossing back over to Earth to spend quality time with Sunset again after memories are restored.
Damn, it's been awhile since I read this one. Looking forward to it.
