I think my job is trying to give me PTSD.

I was awoken by a phone call this morning. Work asked me to come in, as things were crazy. I did so, was there from around 9:30 AM to 6PM. Worked without a lunch break, I might add.

    The Moral Event Horizon.

Gonna discuss another trope today in relation to the Quiververse. In this case, it's the Moral Event Horizon. In simple terms, this is the point a character passes that forever marks them as EVIL and potentially irredeemable. TVTropes itself lists a few examples from FiM, and I won't repeat them here...though I will say that

    It never ends. It just...never...ends...

So work decided to throw another curve ball at me. My supervisor has been transferred to another store. That means that I've had six supervisors in my department across six years, and it could take weeks, maybe even months, for us to get a new one. Which means I'm going to continue to be worked to death.

    So, I'm writing again.

It's not much, but I got some writing done today. Now, be warned, it's going to be a very long time before I do anything related to the Quiververse again, but I'm hoping that time frame will be measured in months rather than a year.

Still, at least I'm making some progress.

    A question to my readers.

When I started serious work on the Quiververse, I made myself a promise. That promise was thus, to do the best I can to use whatever characters appear in a story to the best of my ability. I like to think I've done that, as various canon characters are reasonably consistent with their portrayals in the show (and arguably are undergoing development, though that's up to the reader), and my OCs have

I did my best. · 2:08am Sep 12th, 2021

This week was disrupted by work calling me in for extra time and assorted other issues. I've still gotten writing done - Chapter Six for Tales from a Double Date currently sits at a little over 5,300 words and only two chunks of story still need to be written. I'm really, really hoping that next week will see the next chapter finished, but it's becoming increasingly likely that I'll have problems getting it out on schedule due to work. No supervisor means management is doing the work schedules, and the steady schedule I've had for the last year or so is now gone in favor for whatever the computer system punches up. Couple that with at least one of my days off for the next couple weeks being occupied by preexisting plans - Shang-Chi next week, a dentist appointment the week after - and things are gonna be more problematic than I'd like.

Nothing to do but try to get through it, though.

Oof. I see. Best wishes with the schedule, alright Echo?

And it's fine about the story. I will hope that luck will smile on you, but, as has been said many times before, IRL stuff takes precedence.

(And I hope that Shang-Chi is fun when you get to it. I've not seen it yet, but I would like to sometime.)

Thanks. I just hope it stabilizes soon, and that I don't get called in to work more extra days. Don't get me wrong, I'm good with earning more money, but there's more to life than earning a paycheck.

And I've every confidence it'll be a fun movie. Marvel has yet to put out one that didn't have some value to it.
