    I got ART!

I know I haven't done a blog in awhile, but being a full-time single parent working a full-time job, and a part-time writer tends to really chew into the hours I have in a week. That said, I just had to carve out a little time to show off the remarkable gift I was given from Lady Lightning Strike by way of the amazingly talented artist Pridark.

    Commissions!

Yeah, been awhile since I've written any sort of blog post, but I do have some good news. I'm re-opening to commissions! My patrons on Patreon will get priority for their commissions first, but it doesn't mean that everyone else can't ask for some stories either. Here are my commission conditions:

So... a small heads up about the upcoming month...

I'm about to start writing the final chapter or two of the Brightly Lit saga, after which time I'm actually going to be going on vacation for a week. As in actual time off from my job and all other responsibilities. Which means no Twilight Learned this month, and perhaps not next month either as I reassess things in the wake of the end of writing roughly 350,000 words on one pair of stories set

So... a bit of a heads up

Over the past few years I've engaged in a practice of letting my patrons on Patreon decide what story I should update following the Brightly Lit update in the month, and I've noticed a bit of a pattern. Mainly that anytime "How Twilight Learned" comes up in the voting it easily wins. So recently I asked my patrons if they would like me to just concentrate on Brightly Lit and HTL until one of

    State of the Pen

It's been 10 days since my brother died and 6 since we laid him to rest at the foot of a willow tree near a shady stream. I find myself both functional and numb. I can act, react, and do things, but anything beyond the basics is like trying to push fog with your hands. Something happens but not much. I find myself staring at a computer screen and feeling... nothing.

So, I did take most of the month of August off. I did what I said I would do, including celebrating my son's 19th birthday, making arrangements to travel 1500km north in October for my grandfather's 100th, hit the local rivers and lakes and played a lot of video games. Just in case anyone is wondering what an old fart like me plays, my main games currently are:

- World of Warships (Mare_in_the_Moon)
- 7 Days to Die (highly recommended zombie killing, base builder)
- Fallout 4 and I literally just starting trying out
- Final Fantasy 14

I was doing okay and was going to take the whole month off when my editor, Coyote said, "Hey, I wanna write a clopfic set in the Twilight Learned world." Now, while my editor hasn't written tons of pony stories, they have written a lot of non-pony fiction, including some very spicy porn. So when they said they had the urge to do this, I was all in.

The two of started writing alternating paragraphs and sections, all the while touching up each others work and before I knew it, three hours and gone by and we had 90% of a chapter written. Which told me that I hadn't lost my ability to write, and that it was well and truly back. And then a few days later, Kaidan popped up into the comments on Twilight Learned and wrote some really encouraging worlds, followed up by a blog post that warmed my heart something fierce. Especially as I've always really appreciated him and his encouragement of me over the years.

So yeah. I'm back. There will be a new chapter of Twilight Learned out in the next week. NOT the one Coyote and I wrote. That one is either reserved for the endgame of the current story arc, or perhaps a side story all its own. We will see. After that, it's back to Brightly, where I mean to pick up the pace.

Thank you all for bearing with me.

Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

You play Final Fantasy 14 too? It's my favorite fishing game, and collectible card game. I think I was supposed to be saving the world or something, but I'm sure they've sorted it out without me.

Sounds like you had a pretty awesome vacation, I'm glad that August went so well for you.

you forgot to mention how it started with us sending hilariously silly scribbles back and forth before i was like "no no i'm gonna actually write this now" then sent you the link so we could go nuts over it :rainbowlaugh:

Literally just started. To be honest I found the lore dump at the start to be boring as hell
