“Geez, it’s dark out here… how long have we been in there for?”

Undead Bez followed Dante, holding her head with a hoof. “I don’t really wanna think about it, honestly. I just wanna get the buck home…”

“Yeah… me too… besides, it’s kinda creepy out here.”

Undead Bez froze upon seeing the old bridge that crossed the river.

“…What?”

“Nothing! Can you… go first?”

“Hm… alright.”

Dante pressed a hoof on the bridge, which emitted a loud creaking sound as he began to cross over it.

“…I think I’m going another way.” The female zombie changeling said, turning and beginning to trot in a different direction.

“Why’s that? I don’t see what you’re—”

He was cut off when one of the wooden boards snapped beneath him, causing him to shriek as he nearly plummeted into the water below. “AAA—!”

“Dante!” She whipped around and rushed up to him.

“Ack! Ow, ow, ow, ow!” his forelegs scrabbled on the surface of the bridge as he struggled to keep himself up, his upper body sticking out from the hole he had made in the bridge.

“Are you okay?!”

“I’m fine, I’m fine! I think I scratched a leg, that’s all!”

“Hang on, I gotcha!” She tried pulling him out of the hole in the bridge, with Dante only wincing and gritting his teeth in the process.

“Not so hard!”

“I’m sorry, but I’m not letting you go!”

She bent down and forcefully pushed the boards away, managing to get her boyfriend out from between them.

However, she fell forward into the hole and met the water with a loud splash. She gasped for air, thoughts flooding her head as her heart rate increased.

Not again.

“No, no, no, no, NO!” she shouted as she darted to the other side of the river, her forelegs splashing frantically before she finally pulled herself up, over to the land.

Without any other thoughts, she grabbed Dante, setting him on her carapace, and ran as fast as she possibly could.
