THE GREAT BIG ENCHANTED SERIES RECAP + Q&A?

Hiii everyone!

A reader sent me a PM earlier asking if I planned on doing a recap for the series because of the big hiatus, and the answer is YES AND HERE IT IS!

Enchanted Carousel is nearly ready to update soon (...again...) so I think this is a good time to give everyone a refresher and answer any questions y'all might have.

IMPORTANT POINTS TO KEEP IN MIND FROM TEL/TEK [GDOCS VERSION]

• MONO HOW DID WE GET HERE 

  • Once upon a time, discord and the changelings fucked up equestria and the princesses were like

    • Stop that
  • So they defeated the changelings and they tried to defeat discord but they didnt have the elements 

  • Celestia was like “lets have twilight trick him into thinking we can defeat them”, twilight was like “let’s not”

    • They did it anyway

      • This was widely regarded as a bad move

  • They tricked him, he believed them, and he started reforming and befriended twilight

    • Ponies were shitty to discord, which to be fair he was a jerk to them
    • Twilight genuinely befriended discord and he liked her back

  • Discord finds out what happened and hes like I WILL SMIIITE YOU

    • AND ESPECIALLY U TWILIGHT FOR BETRAYING ME

      • FUCK YOU
  • He traps the princesses all over equestria and then, so the legend goes, he leaves all “yoloooo” 
  • A THOUSAND YEARS LATER
  • Rarity finds twilight, shes like, oh shit darling let me help u

  • Twilights like

    • No

      • But all emo and dramatically
  • Rarity helps her anyway

  • Discord, disguised as a book bringer, is like GO FIIIIND THE LOST BOOKS TO FREEEEE HER!!

    • We later find out they didn’t need the books for anything???

      • We dont know why discord lied about it????

  • Rarity goes on a quest to find the books, she finds some of them

    • She meets luna, and the rest of the mane six and spike and im not recapping all of that

  • Meanwhile twilight is all

    • Ah fudge i think i love her???
    • But shes also super traumatized by what happened  so she cant deal with this right now
    • Oh also they have cool love communication necklaces
    • Anyway

  • At some point they meet the dragons

    • Theyre pissed at ponies bc discord was a jerk to spike

      • This will be relevant in carousel so remember this
  • Halfway thru her bookquest, rarity gets cadance’s curse and she can’t find the library
  • She has a big meltdown about it
  • Meets with princess luna who tells her about what happened in the past
  • They figure out hollow shades is full off bad magic
  • They break the curse
  • They go see princess denza
  • They find out princess denza is actually cadance

  • Twilight loses it

    • Like really loses it, she blue screen of deaths, its really bad,
    • She's also deathly afraid of losing rarity and of the pain of it, and

    • OH MAN

      • In the original draft, i was gonna have this super oof line where rarity’s like “but twilight this isnt like you, i know you” 
      • And then twilight was going to be all “KNOW ME? YOU DONT KNOW ME. I’VE BEEN ALIVE FOR A THOUSAND YEARS, AND YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME??? YOU’RE NOTHING BUT A SECOND. GONE BEFORE I BLINK, YOU DONT FUCKING KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ME, YOU ARE NOTHING” 
      • It was going to be devastating
      • Anyway
    • She goes all chaos and evil and traps herself in the library BC SHE WAS TRAPPING HERSELF ALL ALLLOOOOOONG!!

    • Then we have a 2 year time skip and she realizes she hates this so she frees herself and reunites with rarity

      AND THAT’S TEL

      NOW FOR TEK

  • • Ok so we pick up with twilight freed

    • Everything is great

      • Except for the fact that rarity is absolutely fucked up by what happened at the end of TEL
      • This will be relevant later
    • They go see Cadance and they write to Celestia

    • Celestia is all like

      • Go save luna!!!
    • So they go do that
    • Then what was supposed to be a ten chapter arc BECAME AN ENTIRE GODDAMN BOOK I HATE THIS

    • They go through this whole plot of saving Luna via dreams

      • Im not recapping that its too much but basically it works and its fine and they save her

    • Rarity and Twilight have issues the entire book

      • Twilights trauma made her be not great in TEL, and she hurt rarity, so now she has to deal with it
      • Rarity is too afraid to confront her
      • They end up going to trottingham for a thing and they meet a librarian dude
      • Hes relevant bc later rarity ends up having a dream where she cheats on Twilight with him
      • Twilight sees it and is like rarity what the fuck you dont love me??

      • We find out that its more like rarity is just like

        • REALLY fucked up by the fact that twilight can explode/lose herself and spiral at a moment’s notice

      • Later on we also find out that rarity is so terrified of losing twilight again or twilight dying that she’s willing to die in her place

        • Im sure she wouldnt really tho c: 
      • We have a big raritwi dramatic conversation about it where twis like I WILL GET BETTER AND BE THE PONY U DESERVE ;_; 
      • Its very emotional, and we all cried
      • Eventually they do and their relationship is all the stronger for it

    • THE ELEMENTS

      • Another plot point of TEK is the elements of harmony
      • We see them bond to some of the m6
      • Twilight is like oh shit!!! We need to figure that out!!
      • When luna is freed, pinkie gets her element

    • LUNA

      • Ok so i said i wouldnt recap but MAN
      • That part where luna is like no one believes in me ;_; and pinkie is like I DO!!!! ;__;
      • And then everyone in town comes together to help luna and luna’s like oh my god what have i done how can u forgive me
      • And twis like “princess we already have” 
      • GOD IM CRYING JUST THINKING ABOUT IT
      • And THEN WHEN PINKIE IS LIKE “princess, u have to get out… i really want to meet you… don’t you want to meet me too?” 
      • AND THEN THE CUPCAKE SCENE
      • WAAAAAAH
    • Anyway 

    • they free luna, raritwi is fine, and rarity is like I NEED A VACATION FOR ONE WEEK AT LEAST

      AND THATS THAT

• WHAT NOW!!

  • They need to

    • Find the elements
    • Save celestia
    • Save cadance
    • Defeat discord
    • Also rarity gets a vacation
• EXTRA INFO!!!!

• DISCORD

  • Last we saw of Discord himself was in the end of TEL
  • Discord’s magic is spread all over Equestria; it was recently purged from Hollow Shades (TEK)
  • As of now, we have no idea where he is or what’s his deal
  • We dont know why he made rarity help twilight or why he lied about the books freeing twilight
  • Allegedly he at one point tried convincing twilight she could leave whenever (this was proven to be true)

• LUNA

  • Luna has been freed (as of TEK ending)

• TWILIGHT

  • Twilight is free
  • She dealt with most of her trauma in TEK
  • That’s probably it

• CADANCE

  • Cadance is ghost
  • Cadance is not bound to Canterlot Castle, as explained in TEK’s earlier chapters
  • As of writing this, we do not know how to free her

• CELESTIA

  • As of writing this, we do not know where Celestia is, and the last sighting of her was when that painter dude found her and was like “dude you look like hell” and she was like “lmao” 

    • She wasn’t like that but spiritually, she was
  • The last time anyone spoke to her was when she sent Spike that one dramatic letter all “THERE IS NO HOOOOPE FOR US!!” and when she told Twilight to go help Luna

• NORTH RIDGE!!

  • Sometime in the future, Rarity is travelling away from twilight
  • We don’t know why
  • Apparently she’s been declared missing
  • Might involve discord???
  • Who knows!!!
  • For more info on north, there’s a sidestory called North Ridge’s Debt

• EXTRA POINTS!!

  • Uhhhhhh???
  • Spike and cadance are friends again
  • The owls had babies
  • The plan rn is to go to ponyville??
  • Idk i think ive mostly touched the bigger points of the story so hopefully this was helpful
