So:
Back in Feb. 2020, I wrote a story for one of the "original fiction" Writeoffs that nonetheless had some Pony content. It was a slightly unusual situation all around.
That round, y'see, was supposed to be original fiction inspired by one of the art pieces entered earlier in the contest. But Super Trampoline, not noticing that it was an original fiction round, submitted several pieces of artwork that involved Ponies.
I therefore took it as a personal challenge to write a story based on one of those Pony pictures that would still end up being original fiction. Because I'm kind of stupid that way.
The choice of picture was made much easier by Super Trampoline entering one that was a parody of Rene Magritte's famous "The Treachery of Images" with Derpy in place of the pipe. I'm a huge fan of Magritte's "button-down surrealism," so I put together a story that I then named after another fine piece of artwork, this time by Francisco Goya, "El Sueño de la Razón," or "The Sleep of Reason."
Of the two stories entered in the contest, mine came in last, but I took the comments I'd gotten, rewrote it, changed all references to My Little Pony to a totally fictional cartoon show called My Little Mythos, called Derpy "Plumy" throughout, and sold the story to the Zooscape website where it appeared in December 2020.
The contract over there says they get exclusive rights to the story for 6 months, so now that it's been 8 months, I've reverted the names and sent the story through the moderation queue here at Fimfiction--that way if it's not Pony enough, the moderators can bounce it and all will be well. But if it makes it through, you'll be able to read it here with Derpy right where she should be.

How long the approval queue takes these days, but I really don't know if the story is "Pony enough" to make it on the site here. So I reckon we'll all wait and see.
