You know what? I think I'm ready to repopen some old stories. Specifically, Error Code: FiO, Tale of a Comet: White Light, and Half past ten.
For the uninitiated, each story was semi-popular in its own right, but each fell off the radar for various reasons. I'd like to wipe the slate and start them over from scratch, as I'm a much better storyteller now, but I want your opinions on which one or ones to do.
Error Code: FiO was my first story, a Friendship is Optimal spinoff that followed a man as he found a broken, glitchy ponypad that was more than it seemed. The story was fairly well-recieved, but I recieved criticism for my portrayal of the usually unbeatable Celest-AI as someone the main character could hide things from. This was intended to be a major plot point I had been hinting at, but I lost heart and dropped the story in favor of Prank war, which was supposed to be my last attempt at writing before hanging up my pen forever.
We all know how that turned out, huh?
I won't lie. Tale of a Comet: White Light was a self-insert story. But I rushed it. I had spent too much time writing 1000-ish word chapters for prank war that I wasn't prepared for longer chapters, so I dropped it in shame. There were supposed to be 8 books, each focusing on a different pony race and a different element, such as kirins and fire or pegasi and lightning. As well as the overarching threat of an eldritch evil threatening all life on the planet.
I'd like to reboot that story under the series name Starkeeper or Lightbringer, and make the protagonist A gray pegaus named Ashfur, as it was always intended to be. No more hiding.
Half past ten was... an experiment, honestly. A try at a different style. It was fairly well-recieved, but I genuinely hit a writer's block trying to figure out how the Tantabus would interact with reality, and where to go beyond the story pitch. I'm still not 100% sure on how I want it to go. But I can try.
I'd like you guys' opinions. Should I reboot one or two of my old stories? I'd leave the old ones standing with (classic) added to the title, and start from square one. Or are you happy with Pranks and Potions?
