Season Two Mini Episode 6 Up! (Aug 3rd) · 11:04pm Aug 3rd, 2021

Well, so much for the mini-part of mini episode. This one expanded so much it was practically a regular episode all on its own! :rainbowlaugh: But it had to be, in order to get everyone in there, as every single one of the senior staff of the Phoenix get to show their face at one point or another.

I want to stress some things when it comes to Selar. I mentioned a couple of these details in the spoilered A/N, but let me clarify. First of all, for those who are unaware, Selar is a canon Trek character. I did not create her. This means she's been used in other places, especially the book series Star Trek: New Frontier by Peter David, referenced in here with the mention of the Excalibur and Captain Calhoun. Some of her background was taken from these books, including what happened to her husband, as you can see here:  https://memory-beta.fandom.com/wiki/Selar

Secondly, she is the only remnant of a plan I had early on when it came to the Phoenix crew. Initially, I was going to do what many of the Star Trek novels have done, and do a combination of original characters and canon characters. I'll go into more details in a behind the scenes blog entry, but suffice to say, this plan was thrown out the window, save for Selar, who'd already been mentioned in episode one.

Selar is a character whom I liked very much whenever I saw her in novels, which is why she appears in my story. And as much as I torture the poor girl, her fate in my story will be far better than her fate in New Frontier.

There were a lot of different scenarios we considered for this story, when it came to various characters. Introducing little facts for some of them was part of it. For others we just wanted to expand a little on their character and show them having some fun. Some of our characters are more rough and tumble than others, and it shows.

As for Clairica's French, it was pulled off of a website, so if any of her cursing is oddly written or combines Quebecois and Parisian (Or Breton and Occitanian, or any other subcultures that shouldn't mix), my apologies to all French speakers.

I hope you all enjoyed the comedy, my lovely readers, and I hope it was a wonderful surprise to see it a day early. The next one will be a day late, on Saturday, so see you then for mini-episode 7: "Space Race”!

Oh my gosh you're right. I only just realized today is Tuesday so it is a day early! :pinkiegasp:

Just because certain subcultures haven’t mixed in the 21st century doesn’t mean they won’t have by the 23rd.
