I watched it last night and it left me with conflicting feelings after reading the critical reviews that are mostly negative. Here's a list of the parts that I like and don't like.
Redeeming Qualities
1. Visually appealing CGI
2. No one called Lola Bunny "doll" and she was treated as an equal
3. Lit and awesome soundtrack
4. Don Cheadle's antagonistic role
5. A lesson about being your true self and pursuing something that brings you joy
6. The exclusion of Pepe Le Pew because of his antics that are equivalent to sexual harassment/assault
Drawbacks
1. Lebron James's stale acting and lack of charisma
2. Warner Bros's overpromotion of its intellectual property
3. Cringe factor of some characters who tried too hard to be hip and trendy
4. Terrible treatment of Marvin the Martian, to the point that he didn't get to join the Tune Squad
5. It's like watching an advertisement that lasts for 2 hours
6. WB's failure to put the name of the character designer in the credits
Overall, it is a guilty pleasure, albeit a distinguishable kind that would depict the evolution from the first one. It may leave Lebron fans with disappointing impressions, but it would certainly be enjoyable for those who are craving for the nostalgia factor.
4.5/10
I liked it. Apparently the first one didn’t do so hot either at first, but let’s see what time has in store…
